Feeding Instructions

Weight Daily Feeding (cup) Active Daily Feeding (cup)
1 - 10 lbs 1/4 - 1/2 1/2 - 1
11 - 30 lbs 1/2 - 1 1 - 2
31 - 50 lbs 1 - 2 2 - 4

71 - 90 lbs 2 1/2 - 3 4 1/2 - 5 1/2

Mix food with warm water, stir well and wait 3 minutes for food to hydrate. We suggest dividing daily amount into 2 servings. For larger dogs adjust accordingly. These are only guidelines! Your individual dog's needs will vary with age and activity. You can add slightly more or less water than we suggest, according to your pet's taste. Refrigerate or discard any leftovers.

Transition Instructions

If your dog has never tried our foods before, we recommend starting out slowly. Over a period of 1 to 2 weeks or so, start by adding just a small amount of the Honest Kitchen (with water added) into your dog’s current meals. Gradually increase the amount of the Honest Kitchen while decreasing the amount of your dog’s original diet.

The Honest Kitchen may be mixed in with your dog’s current dry kibble, canned, raw, etc. However, we do not suggest adding in other extra ingredients during the transition if you can avoid it, especially if your pup’s system is very sensitive. After you’ve successfully transitioned your dog to the new food, perhaps after 2-4 weeks or so, and they are doing well, then you may consider adding in extra ingredients or introducing another honest kitchen recipe, etc.

Dehydrated to Lock in Natural Goodness

The Honest Kitchen dehydrated dog foods are made with a single meat protein — free-range chicken, cage-free turkey or hormone-free beef — all sustainably sourced. Their grain-free recipes are great for pups with sensitivities, and the whole grain options are made with organic rolled oats. They're less processed than regular dry food, and dehydrated to retain their natural goodness and flavor.

Minimally Processed with Natural Ingredients

Minimally Processed with Natural Ingredients

Each recipe is made with real, whole foods that are minimally processed, not fractions of ingredients. A gentle dehydration process preserves the natural nutrients, rich flavors and wholesome nutrition. You won't find any artificial additives, GMOs, chemical preservatives, by-products, fillers or preservatives.

100% Human Grade From Farm to Bowl

Human grade means that it's good enough for humans to eat, but formulated just for pets. The Honest Kitchen follows the same quality standards for their pet food as the foods you would find at the grocery store. They source the highest quality ingredients directly from the human food chain and produce their recipes in the USA in an FDA-inspected human food facility.

100% Human Grade
Just Add Water

Just Add Water for a Meal in Minutes

Every 10-pound box of The Honest Kitchen dog food contains concentrated nutrition that rehydrates to 40 pounds of fresh food. It might be a small box, but it's full of nutrients from over 10 pounds of beef or poultry plus whole foods like pumpkin, carrots, apples and leafy greens. Simply add warm water, stir and wait just three minutes to serve a great-tasting, nutritious meal for your pup.

  • My dog LOVES this food!

    By on

DH and I have a border collie mixed breed that recently suffered from acute pancreatitis. We were looking for a lower fat, easier to digest [over kibble], less preservative laden option to feed him from his current food (Merrick Backcountry). I bought this food because of the great reviews, and my dog can't eat a food that has chicken as the main ingredient (though there are 3 eggs in this food he seems to be fine with them). When I brought this food home and prepared it to serve, I was very skeptical that my dog would eat this food. My dog tends to be a picky eater. I'll admit that since it's human grade I gave this food a little taste, and it didn't taste appealing to me (haha). The food definitely has an unconventional look akin to green oatmeal, but for all my skepticism my dog absolutely LOVES this food! Because of his pancreatitis I currently break his meals up to 4 smaller portions and feed him 4 times a day. I also warm it up in the microwave for him, so I don't know if that adds to the appeal, but I love the quality ingredients and happy to see how much he loves to eat this food. It is a little more expensive than his Merrick dog food, however, we're probably going to stick with this brand. I've never seen my dog be this enthusiastic over a dog food. … more

  • was looking for good food

I just started feeding Verve 1/5/18, both dogs are now only eating Verve. So far so good, they love it, but to be honest they pretty much eat anything lol. I'm still getting used to preparing it and figuring out the amount each should get. With their dry I used 1 cup and 1/2 cup so I'm still adjusting to get the right amount for each calorie wise. This food was recommended by a friend who feeds her dogs a raw diet. When I questioned her about something to add to their store bought dry she recommended Honest Kitchen. She did a lot of research and she uses Honest Kitchen when she doesn't have raw prepared.

  • They love it!

We have a 7 year old Doodle who is just as likely to nibble on his kibble as he is to turn his nose up and walk away. Now that we've added The Honest Kitchen beef recipe to his kibble, he devours both quite happily. I started off as using The Honest Kitchen as a topper (sprinked dry) to the dry food but now reconstitute 1/2 cup and then add his dry kibble on the side (he really seems to enjoy it more reconstituted). We also have a puppy who seems to love eating the beef recipe just as much as our adult!

  • Happy & healthy

One month in to the switch & all is good! I have 2 small dogs both with their own issues, a 7 year old Morkie with a sensitive belly & a few pounds to shed & a 12 year old Chihuahua with Cushings & heart disease who needs a low sodium diet. This was a great fit for both. Knowing you are feeding them healthy ingredients made in a human grade facility is great. They love to hear me stirring up their bowls.

  • High quality product

    By on

All of the Honest Kitchen products are made with wonderful ingredients, are fresh, easy to store, easy to prepare, and the dogs really like them. I am confident my dogs are being fed a quality product. Some of the choices are quite pricey, but there are offerings for all budgets.

  • Good ingredients, but....

This food has great ingredients. I have two dogs, a Rottweiler and a Lab. My Rottweiler loves it. My lab won't eat it unless I put some turkey or chicken in it. There are no chunks of beef so it looks and smells like a vegetarian meal. It would be nice if the beef was in chunks and not grinded down to powder. I can't really smell any beef in it. Their stools are nice and solid with this food.

  • Mucho picky dogs...help

Smells like green tea or baby cereal?! Doesn't smell like anything a dog would be interested in... And my 3 dogs would not even take a bite. Too expensive not to be delicious.

  • Odd color, but he likes it.

    By on

Our 3 year old recently experienced his first bout with pancreatitis. He was first on the Zeal flavor of THK and now I am interchanging with the Verve. So far, so good! I really do not want to use the recommended vet prescription dog food since the ingredients are ones I can't even pronounce.

  • Terrible Product

This food is green! Translation = Grains and fiber. Dogs main source of protein for their diet is . . obviously protein. This means meat. This dog food has the consistency of play dough when made. And smells like horse feed! Do not buy this
