Cost and lack of availability
I like the dehydrated food because it produces less trash than canned wet food. That said, the cost of this product has nearly doubled since 2019! A bigger increase than many other dog foods (yes, they've all gone up... and keep going up). You can rarely find the 10lb box which would provide a slightly better value. I had to start mixing in extra oats and leftovers to make the box go further. Thank goodness I only have a 35# dog or this would break the bank.
My Corgis love it!
We recently switched to this from Purina Bright Minds, wanting to give our dogs something a bit healthier as they are getting older. One of them is a pretty grumpy old man who only gets excited for dinner time and now he finishes every meal with a big smile! The only thing to note is that the water-to-food ratio is a bit off. We do about 1:1 so that the food isn’t too watery. I also love that you can prepare in advance and refrigerate it. That will make prepping for a dog sitter to come so much easier.
I wish my dog liked it
Good concept however my dog would not eat it. A few slurps but nothing more. I say slurps and not bites because the consistency was not what I had envisioned. I guess I thought it would be more chicken like but instead it was soupy like oatmeal. Oatmeal is 1 of the main ingredients so I guess it makes sense. Sorry. I am returning mine. I really wanted this to work. I DO love Honest Kitchen and highly recommend their PourOvers. This is the 1st product I have not liked.
Dog loves this
My dog loves this food (Chihuahua mix). We do a mix of the wet dehydrated food with dry kibble. This one is more finely ground (except for oat pieces) then other brands we've used. He loves this one because there aren't big veggie pieces in it which he never eats. He licks the bowl clean.
He likes it
My picky, thrill seeking standard poodle likes this but is even after a short time looking for more thrills, unfortunately. At first, ate it with gusto and I was pleased as the nutrition looks great but following his mantra of “variety is the spice of life” is already looking for “enhancements”. So we continue to spin the wheel of home cooking, canned, dry kibble and freeze dried. But this is a good one, smells great and I believe IS great. Bonne Chance you all!
Our dog Murphy (5 years old) had been eating a kibble dog food for several years and lost interest in it. I did some research on quality of many dog food. The one we had been feeding him was rated pretty high but he didn’t like it anymore. A friend said he was feeding his dogs Honest Kitchen dehydrated food. We tried it and he loves it. The rating is much higher with human grade food. Cost is quite a bit higher but he is my buddy and I wanted him healthy.
Our dog really likes this
Chewy sells The Honest Kitchen brand and our dog really likes it. It's high quality dog food, just add warm water. Chewy shipped quickly, arrived as said in great condition. I just put in another order to try a different beef flavor for our sweet furry family member!
Pup does not care for this food
My pup is 7 months old he won't eat this food he prefers the Stella and chewy puppy kibble disappointing was hoping to feed him a more fresh less cooked food but won't work for us, even added chicken breast cooked he still won't eat bummer.
The all-grain Turkey had been a favorite but all love the chicken without any allergic reactions; b/c the Turkey remains “out of stock”, I’ll be buying the chicken from now on. The rat-Jack prefers a topper of ground chicken simmered in bone broth but he’s a bit picky. The others love it plain.
Great Dog Food
My local pet store was out of my Shih Tzus' favorite Honest Kitchen flavor, so I switched, and they refused to eat! Chewy came to the rescue with a great selection and fast shipping. Chicken with grain is healthy and, apparently, quite delicious!
