    Thankful for this food

I have a 13 almost 14 year old Saint Benard/Boxer mix. He became very picky about dry and wet food for months, and he was diagnosed with a spinal cord disease back in February. Since February, he randomly goes through periods where he drops weight and I put him on a boiled chicken/rice diet. I have been I have a 13 almost 14 year old Saint Benard/Boxer mix. He became very picky about dry and wet food for months, and he was diagnosed with a spinal cord disease back in February. Since February, he randomly goes through periods where he drops weight and I put him on a boiled chicken/rice diet. I have been giving him this food twice a day for the last 2 months, and since he has been the healthiest he’s ever been. His vet last week was so taken back by his health and how he looks. Just from being on the good, he has put on 10 pounds. The vet wants me to bring him in though the month to weigh him to make sure he doesn’t get too heavy. More than pleased to have found something my boy loves, but also a healthy food I feel comfortable giving to him. I originally was buying wet food from the grocery store, but noticed how it would just upset my pups stomach all the time, and he was gaining any weight from it. With this food, my pup no longer has stomach issues and has gained 10 pounds. He loves the turkey, chicken, and beef boxes, but chicken is his number 1! I even got my parents to switch to it and have recommended it to others. Very very pleased and I am not one to write reviews ever.. so that says something! … more

    Great food with some caveats

First of all, I think this is an excellent product - I like the minimal processing, human grade ingredients (and limited in number since one of my dogs has severe allergies), and nothing sourced from China. My dogs (two pit bull mixes) were crazy about it. However, I won’t be feeding it anymore for a couple reasons. A) It’s expensive when you’re feeding two BIG dogs, one of whom is an energizer bunny who burns up his calories like a bonfire. The cost was just insupportable. It might be more doable for someone with one dog that is smaller, or someone with more income than me. B) It’s messy! The energizer bunny ate it like his life depended on it and managed to slop chunks of it out of the bowl and all over the floor. While he’s happy to clean it up, some of it always escapes, and I don’t love having to mop the floor under the feed bowl twice a day. C) The texture kinda forces the dog to eat slower - lots of lapping and licking - which should be a good thing, especially with big dogs who can be prone to bloating. However, my more laid back dog developed godawful gas (sorry, no way to sugar coat that) with all that licking and lapping, probably because he swallowed too much air. It just wasn’t supportable. Someone else might have a different experience from me, and for someone with a smaller dog, or less dogs, or more money, this is a great quality food. … more
