Rated 5 out of 5 by Almost miraculous transformation for my old girl... My old girl, a 13 year old lab-rotty mix, has bad arthritis and has developed what we think is allergies. To what, we don't know. Her eyes are puffy and look infected, like bacterial conjunctivitis, but the antibiotics didn't help it. Steroids did. And...she has lick granulomas that have been there for years. I could never get them completely healed. So I did some research and found grain free allergen free food that appears to be all natural. She has been on this food for over a week now. She gobbles it right up. I can't prep it fast enough for her. Her eyes are finally looking better (although not completely healed yet). Her lick granulomas are no longer raw and bleeding but seem to be healing nicely (to my amazement!). And I caught her running around the yard with my adolescent fur baby like she was a puppy again! It makes me so happy to see her doing so much better. There were a couple of times last year I thought I was going to lose her. This food might not be for every dog, but it has been perfect for us. :-) September 23, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Wonderful ingredients... but Mack doesn't like it :( Our dog Mack was diagnosed with pancreatitis last year. The vet gave us some special food but I don't usually care to feed our pets any veterinary diet food since it usually contains poor ingredients. I searched for low fat canned, grain-free food and was using Fromm 4-Star Nutritionals Chicken until it was discontinued earlier this year. My hunt for a low-fat food was on again. I read about HK Zeal and it sounded so good! I bought a 10 lb. box and started serving it to Mack. Well, he ate it for about a week and then NOPE! He wouldn't touch it, and he's not a picky dog. In fact, I don't think I've ever served him anything that he flat out refused. I've ended up making him homemade food but have decided to try to using up the box a little at a time, as a gravy to mix in. I'd suggest buying a smaller quantity at first and seeing if your dog will eat it on a consistent basis. The other reviews seem to bear out a "love it or hate it" dog response so, if your dog loves it, great! If not, you wouldn't have spent a lot of money on something your dog won't eat. August 7, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Honest Kitchen My dogs love all the Honest Kitchen products. Healthy and tasty. October 28, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great food but very pricey I love Honest Kitchen's foods, my dogs all look phenomenal when I feed it to them. Their ingredients are truly quality, no fillers, and because they produce their food in human-grade facilities they are much safer than other dog foods and less likely to have recalls. I do think however that these foods are very expensive for what you get volume-wise. A 10-pound box of Honest Kitchen will feed one of my 35-pound dogs for about 8 days, so more or less I'd be looking at 4 boxes a month for one dog. I have multiple dogs and it's not financially possible for me to feed this food exclusively. I do like to use Honest Kitchen as a "topper" for the other food that I do feed. I put about a tablespoon of HK on top of the kibble, add water, and it makes a tasty gravy. I also like to feed HK to dogs who are off their feed for any reason, as they really like the way it tastes and often if I reconstitute the HK with warm chicken broth I can get a dog to eat who wasn't interested in anything else. Rated 4 out of 5 by My Pomeranian has way more energy and healthier hair! My 9-year old pomeranian is a bit arthritic and easily injures himself trying to jump around on non-carpeted floors. He takes medicine when it acts up but my groomer recommended a switch to Honest Kitchen due to the anti inflammatory properties of eating it which would benefit his overall health especially the arthritis. He's picky so I knew switching the food would be hard and I wasn't wrong so I do still incorporate Fresh Pet Select chicken and spinach into this food because this does have more carbs than protein. He absolutely loves it how I measured it out for him and within just 3 days his hair has gotten tremendously softer and he has way more energy than ever before. He's more playful now and there is a lot less limping. It has only been a week, so I can't wait to see how he keeps getting healthier thanks to this!! August 4, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this food! I cannot say enough about this food! Our Labrador has had skin and allergy issues (food and environmental) starting at 6 months old, coupled with a sensitive stomach. We tried every hypoallergenic food on the market, and it helped with some of the allergies but either gave her diarrhea or constipation, and her skin and fur was still awful. Someone recommend Honest Kitchen Zeal, and we decided to give it a try. Our girl started looking better within the first week of this food. Her hair was growing back thick and healthy, her skin looked better and the dander improved. Three months later, she looks better then ever and NO tummy issues. And better energy/mood. We still have challenges with the environmental allergies, but this was a milestone for her. Some reviewers mentioned picky pups won't eat it, and to be honest it does smell awful. Our girl loves it, but she's a Lab and they will eat anything, literally ANYTHING (including things that are not actually food). It's expensive, but for us it's worth every penny. For anyone wanting to save some money, try using it just as a topper or half/half with a more reasonably priced food. Anyone watching their dog suffer with skin issues knows how heartbreaking it is. If you are one of those dog owners, and thinking about trying this food, it's worth the money if you can afford it. I hope you see the same results we have. September 6, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Unfortunately, my Sheltie will not eat it Which is truly a shame since it was highly recommended by a breeder and Sheltie agility judge! So I can't recommend or not recommend unfortunately. September 22, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Mixed success This product was recommended to me to help my dog lose weight. Very smelly and my dog is not really accepting eating it. Wish I had a trial of it first. Now I am stuck with an expensive box of food my dog won't eat. September 17, 2016
