  • Excellent Human Grade Food

    By on

My dogs love all the Honest Kitchen dehydrated foods. The ingredients are not exposed to heat extrusion like kibble is. The only issue I have is that a secondary ingredient are potatoes, but this food is affordable and has high quality ingredients. I mix it with home made food to ensure my dogs get all necessary minerals and nutrients.

  • Haven't quite made up our minds.....

They seemed to like it at first but not so much after a couple of days. I am going to try the chicken based product and see if they like it better. It does have a very strong odor of fish and looks like guacamole. Since dogs don't tend to care about color or smell, I think that opinion is specifcally a human response.

  • absolutely great!

I stirred up my first batch of the grain free fish recipe for my dog, and was not sure if the consistency was right, or if my dog would even go near the bowl. As I was setting her bowl down, I wondered if I would be able to get my money back because I didn't think she would like it... it looked so different from her prior dog food, and had a different consistency. Well, SHE DEVOURED THIS FOOD!!! I am thrilled with this product. It was really easy to make (but I wish the packaging would show what the food looks like after re-hydrated, I'm still not sure the consistency was right). Also, it did not have a fishy smell at all. It is an economical product and the ingredients are exactly what I stirred up my first batch of the grain free fish recipe for my dog, and was not sure if the consistency was right, or if my dog would even go near the bowl. • Best we've ever had!

    By on

I have two senior dogs. One will eat anything, but has food allergies, and needs a limited diet. The other can eat anything, but is veryyyy picky, even amongst top quality brands. The Honest Kitchen Zeal recipe is finally something they both go gaga over! My picky eater runs in the kitchen as soon as he hears me mixing it up, and I feel at ease knowing my girl with food allergies is eating something both yummy and good for her. I must mention though - this formula has a very potent smell! It is fish, after all, but opening the bag certainly clears the sinuses! No wonder they love it so much :) Highly recommend!!

  • Best dog food ever

My two Labrador love this! I use it mixed with their dry food to add some actual vitamins. I've never seen two dogs mouths water over food before. It is expensive but well worth it!

  • Great Line from THK

    By on

My dog was eating Force but not with much gusto. He is a senior and needs to lose a few pounds. He has a weak rear and we are working on building up his endurance. Ordered Zeal and he is in LOVE! I can't wait to see if it will help with his weight loss.

  • Dogs love it, but it's stinky.

    By on

That's basically it. I usually buy the turkey recipe from THK, but decided to mix up their meals and my dogs gobble this stuff up every time. The only complaint is that I can hardly mix it up because the fish smell is so extreme. I don't get that smell from any of the other flavors THK offers. I will probably keep a small box of this on had just so my dogs can have variety.

  • Great for dogs with pancreatitis

    By on

My senior dog was recently diagnosed with pancreatitis. The vet tried to push Hills Science Diet on me but since I don't like that brand, I decided to do my own research. I found this food and liked that it was low in fat but high in protein. I've been feeding it for about two weeks and I can tell my dog is feeling much better. He used to lay around all day and groan because he was in pain but not anymore. I was afraid that he would lose some weight because of the low fat content but he's still maintaining a very healthy weight. I'm glad I found this food! It's expensive but worth every penny knowing that my dog is not having any more pain due to the pancreatitis. He loves the taste and jumps My senior dog was recently diagnosed with pancreatitis. • Smells good, one dog liked, the other dog didn't

    By on

I am taking a 3 week drive across US & Canada soon to return to my home in AK and am trying to find human grade dry dog food I can pack. I thought this food smelled great when I opened it. One of my two German Shepherds loved the good but her brother wasn't a fan. But realistically- not all people like fish either, each of my nieces like and dislike different foods, why wouldnt dogs have similar preferences? I think the good is high quality - no issues.
