Feeding Instructions

Adult: Feed 3/4 - 1 - 1/4 cans per 15 lbs of body weight per day.

Puppy: Feed up to twice the Adult amount per day.

Gestation and Lactation: Feed up to 3 times the Adult amount per day.

For Combination Feeding: Feed 1/3 cup less dry food for every 1/2 can of wet food.

Adjust the amount of food you serve based on the age, size and activity level of your dog. Food should be fed at room temperature. Promptly refrigerate the unused portion.

Transition Instructions

A slow transition will be the easiest. Plan for the process to take about a week. Days 1 and 2, mix 25% of the new food in with the old food. If the change is tolerated well, increase the transition to 50% new food. Continue for a few days then increase the new food to 75%, then 100% after a couple more days. Be sure to mix the “old” food with Hound & Gatos – don’t offer each food separately. If transitioning from kibble, you can just add the can as a topper to the kibble. If loose stools occur, keep the ratio of old/new food at the current ratio for a couple of days until the stools firm back up.

High Quality

Read a lot of dog food labels and this is one of the highest quality dog foods available. Basically just three meats, a little thickener (which I guess is necessary), and vitamins/minerals. No undesirable ingredients / by-products like brewers yeast, grains, or bad oils (canola, sunflower, etc). My dog loves its. Highly recommend.

Damaged Cans

This was a replacement order. I'm sorry, the food is good. The packaging - meh. I have had 3 shipments of premium dog food - 2 for this brand and 1 of another. They have all had damaged cans. I am beginning to believe that the premium foods are cutting costs on packaging to make up for the food costs -- even so we are still paying premium pricing. I do not think this is a Chewy storage-handling - shipping matter but inferior metal cans used in manufacturing. (They are very thin) I will be contacting both companies to make my concerns known. If this is a "typical" issue with premium foods - then I'll either have to find them locally so I can inspect them first - or buy lesser premium foods. Such a shame. The damage is such that I would not even trust donating them to a shelter -- not wanting to harm "any" other animal -- I am left with throwing them away. I will be filing my complaint with Chewy now. I have not had these problems with lesser premium foods -- it seems they use "heavier" cans. Just a "heads up" -- both companies produce great quality food that my dog has really liked.

Five Stars for the return policy

I picked this out for my pup because of the high quality and excellent reviews. Problem was, my pup simply did not like the taste; there is little one can do about that. Props to Chewy for providing a refund and allowing me to donate the remaining cans to a local rescue organization.

Real dog and cat food not feed.

There are only a few commercial pet foods that I will give my pets. Hound and Gatos is one of those few.

dented cans

The last two shipments have contained dented cans. I think they were packaged by the mfg that way since they are completely wrapped and boxed. Other brand food cans were not dented so I don't think it was due to Chewy's shipping.

Wonderful dog food

i mix some of the this wet food with dry dog food. The dogs rush to their bowls to eat. They are satisfied with their meal. There is no hanging around each other's bowl or walking away as they have done in the past. The cost is more, but well worth it to see their satisfaction.
