For Adult cats, feed 1 can per 6 - 8 lbs of body weight per day. Kittens require up to 2 and a half times this amount. For pregnant and lactating females, allow free access to food. Adjust the amount of food you serve based on the age, size and activity level of your cat. Food should be fed at room temperature.
If you are currently free-feeding a kibble, the first step is to feed your cat at meal times. Put the kibble down for a 20-30 minute time frame for a few days to help your cat recognize that this is feeding time. Yes, your cat will be hungry at these mealtimes if they have been used to grazing all day long, but this step will help in the transition.
Once these meal times are established, then try introducing canned food. Your cat will either like it and your transition took no time at all, or you may have to keep trying to entice the cat. If your cat will not eat the canned food you have offered, try putting some kibble on the top to entice the cat. If that doesn’t work, feed kibble and try a different protein at the next mealtime. It may take a while – a few day or a few weeks – for your cat to realize that this is food, but remember that you are doing it to better your cats health.
AA healthy food for your dog or cat offers your pet true nutrition. At Hound & Gatos we believe true nutrition begins with a balanced diet similar to what they would eat in nature: a diet high in protein. The first ingredient on all of our labels is a meat source, such as beef, chicken or fish. Our products are manufactured in the USA. No byproducts, fillers, inferior ingredients, or artificial preservatives are added into our products. Never Carrageenan. Our products are 100% meat 0% grains.
At Hound & Gatos, we believe pets should be given diets that reflect their diets in the wild, which is why we developed an all - meat diet.
Yes, 4 years awarded Most Trusted Pet Foods by Truth About Pet Food, 3 years Whole Dog Journal, won all 5 Stars at DogFood Advisor.com, and CatInfo.org.
Dogs are meat eaters by nature, and their bodies were created to excrete the protein waste in ways that humans and other animals aren’t capable. A healthy pet should have no problem digesting protein - based diets.

The consistency is loose and liquidy - and it does smell very fishy but it is fish so expect it to smell strong. My cats eat it but not as much as the game bird item. I won’t order this one again.
One of Luck favorites, two paws up. I research any company which I buy food for my fur babies. Hound and Gatos has an excellent reputation that is well deserved. Luck and I are very happy with this food I highly recommend Hound and Gatos.
This food smells terrible, so it's probably for the best that my kitty doesn't like it. It has a horrible fishy smell that is nauseating. To be clear, I don't mind when fish smells like fish. I like salmon. My cat likes salmon. But this is just gross.
I don't know if this product is good or not because I personally have not tried it but my kitty will not eat it. She loves Salmon but this she will not eat it. This is the first Salmon food wet or dry she will not eat. I tried it warm, chill, room temp. and blended w/ previous flavors with no success.
I purchased this because I was not able to get the lamb hound and gatos which I felt was a really good value for the money. So I decided to try this product and compared to the lamb when I opened the can the food slumps a quarter inch. It doesn't seem to fill the can. And it's a bit watery although it's still paté like
My cats are on an all wet food diet, I have tried several brands over the years. This one seems to make the cats happiest. They finish their meals, don’t have any tummy troubles, and get really excited when it’s food time. I have a picky eater that would rather starve then eat things she doesn’t like so I’m glad she will eat this food. I like the transparency of ingredients and the commitment to high quality. My only complaint is the price fluctuates and it can be very expensive. My picky eater is worth it :)
The cats like it - but I think it is very rich - it is almost like opening a can of meat spread (the old fashioned kind). I usually only feed it once or twice a week or it can be wasted - and I only give them 1/2 a tsp on top of the junk food Friskies they absolutely die for. It is a good cat - treat. They scream for it, but then I think they get something similar to an ice cream headache. They will devour their fill, but cannot consume an entire can - and I have 4 cats. I can see they love it, but I can also see they can only take so much of it. I hope that helps.
After licking to taste it, my cats turned their noses at this flavor. So, I fed it to my neighborhood feral colony. I did manage to watch them for a while and noticed that some would plow right into the food and some would reluctantly eat it. This was outside the usual feral colony social order behavior. I'm very disappointed by this but cats are finicky animals.
My picky kitty Pepper who also has some food allergies loves Hound and Gatos Salmon! She loves the Lamb as well.
This is the third variety of Hound and Gatos I have tried, and switching to this brand of food has nearly eliminated my cat's irritable bowel symptoms. Same is true for this salmon flavor. He gobbles this food and begs for more. I find this variety too soupy, but other than that, if my cat is happy I am happy.
