I have three Great Danes and they typically don’t eat wet food. Our oldest hasn’t been eating very much lately so I decided to try to add wet food to her dry food and she ate it up no hesitations. We tried the salmon and lamb liver wet food because our two younger ones are allergic to chicken. They loved it! I recommend.
Love the convenience of getting this to my doorstep. Otherwise I have to drive 25 miles to get it.
I have one pup with what I call puppy-IBS and another with food allergies, so the ingredients list meets all of our needs, which is rare. I was a bit worried about the reviews that commented about consistency, but the sale price and contents swayed me, and I'm glad they did. I prefer a well-mixed pate in a canned food for two reasons: when I have to give meds, I bury them in a ball of canned food-- this can't be done with a stew-- and plop it into the bowl of food so it is gulped right up; and for the super fast eater, I line his bowl with the pate and roll his dry food into that; he trashes his time picking out his kibble before he licks off the canned food. Aaaanyway, for my purposes of adding this to their kibble and feeding a limited ingredient high quality canned food, this is the best I've found. I only wish I came back sooner to get the sale price again.
Great ingredients! But for some reason it caused my girl to throw up every time she ate it. I only use the canned food for stuffing her Kong, so it’s a treat. Just wish it had worked for her sensitive stomach. I will have to go back to what we’ve used in the past
Before starting this food, my little rescue dog has suffered horribly from IBD. I have purchased hundreds of dollars of dog foods trying to find one that works for him. Finally found this food, Hound & Gatos Salmon and Lamb Liver. Both dogs LOVE it. And the very ill dog has not had a bowel episode since we started him on it. I mix it with a little home-cooked steel-cut oatmeal and a fingerful of canned pumpkin. He eats three good meals a day. Of course, for now, he continues on his pepcid and sucralfate and Vit B. But this food has greatly improved his coat, his muscle tone, his attitude, his energy, and happily his gut. Life is much better.
I have been feeding Hound & Gatos to my German Shepherds for years. They get it mixed with their dry food and always clean their dishes twice a day.
I found plastic in the food. I contacted H&G and was given the round around. I was told to leave a voice message which has not been replied to. My lab was throwing up for several days after eating the food. Beware of H&G's bad practices. I thank Chewy rep for handling matter immediately. As always Chewy has excellent customer service and really cares about their pet clients.
My dog loves this canned dog food. Her coat is thicker and shinier since she started eating it some time ago. I mix it with Nature's Variety Instint Limited Ingredient kibble. She'd had to be on prescription dog food, which she'd stopped eating and started losing weight. Then I discovered Hound & Gatos and she's gotten off prescrip food and is doing great!
My (two) dogs absolutely love this food. I give them 5 different varieties in the course of a month and this is one they devour as quickly as possible.
I've fed H&G for years. My dogs love it and do really well on most flavors (one has chicken allergy). I'm not sure why people are complaining about the Salmon texture. It's clearly all fish and has fish pieces visible. As a topper, the texture makes it supper easy to mix evenly into kibble. Also, this is a quality canned dog food which IMO means everything!
