Feeding Instructions

For Adult cats, feed 1 can per 6 - 8 lbs. of body weight per day.

Kittens require up to 2 and a half times this amount. For pregnant and lactating females, allow free access to food. Adjust the amount of food you serve based on the age, size and activity level of your cat. Food should be fed at room temperature. Promptly refrigerate the unused portion.

Transition Instructions

If you are currently free-feeding a kibble, the first step is to feed your cat at meal times. Put the kibble down for a 20-30 minute time frame for a few days to help your cat recognize that this is feeding time. Yes, your cat will be hungry at these mealtimes if they have been used to grazing all day long, but this step will help in the transition.

Once these meal times are established, then try introducing canned food. Your cat will either like it and your transition took no time at all, or you may have to keep trying to entice the cat. If your cat will not eat the canned food you have offered, try putting some kibble on the top to entice the cat. If that doesn’t work, feed kibble and try a different protein at the next mealtime. It may take a while – a few day or a few weeks – for your cat to realize that this is food, but remember that you are doing it to better your cats health.

  • Great Quality

I'm so impressed with the ingredients of this food. Glad it was on sale so I could try it out for my cats. I'm trying to stick to giving only food that has "cooling/neutral" proteins (which is very hard to find) to my cat with seizures. It wasn't their favorite, but they don't hate it. They usually eat it, its just that they get tired of it sometimes. I'll keep buying it if I see it on sale, and give it to them a few times a week!

Inside cats won't touch it. Outside feral cats eat almost everything I put out there.

  • Great Product But 60% Increase In Price!

    By on

The Game Bird was a huge hit at our house and all of the furbies can eat it (health issues) but the 60% price increase is insane! Especially since the dog formula stayed the same!!! When asked why I was told cost of ingredients and market value. Guess it was too popular?? It's sad because our selection has once again been narrowed

  • Glad I switched

I ordered this food as I had read that Hound and Gatos is a very good food and wanted to try some for my two kitties. I try to stay with protein sources that I think they might go for if loose and gamebirds fit the bill. They both love it! They woud eat as much as I would give them if they could. I do feed other food but this is one of their favorites.

  • Formula changed

    By on

Seems to have a new formula. Not as meaty as old formula. More gel like and mushy. Same consistency as all the other flavors-chicken, beef, turkey- etc. My cat won’t eat it even when mixed with the old formula. It’s really different. Not sure why the change, if someone wanted the mushy stuff they could have bought turkey instead of Gamebird.

  • Cats won't eat this

Aside from the gums, which I generally try to avoid, the ingredients in this look great and the smell of the product is nice and meaty (I'm a vegetarian, so take that with a grain of salt). The texture is like a slightly dryer ZiwiPeak before they reformulated all of their wet food to be more like typical pate. All of that sounds good, however neither of my two cats will eat this food. Sometimes they are suspicious of new foods, but will eventually take to it if I introduce it alongside other food they do like. It's been three months of me trying to get them acclimated to this product and I can say that this is not a winner. • The cats love it

Finding food for my cats that is both good for them and one that they will consistently eat has been a challenge. So far, both will eat and I’m happy with the ingredients.

  • No more chances

    By on Top 25 Contributor

We've tried 3 flavors and nobody liked them. Nearly hard pucks with a lot of gel. I mixed the gel into the pucks and added a little warm water to soften but still no. 12 cats and nobody ate it. 3 cans wasted and sadly another possibility lost. Ingredients are good but sadly nobody will touch it. They just sniffed and walked away or tried to bury it.
