What is the diameter of the bottom of the fire hydrant?
Answer by ChewyFeb 12, 2018
The diameter of the bottom of the Fire Hydrant is 9 Inches.

How do you secure the top so the wind doesn’t pick it up. There is a hole in the top but no peg or other implement to fasten the top to the base.
Answer by ChewyMar 24, 2022
Secure the top of the Red Plastic Fire hydrant by squeezing permanent adhesive caulk around the inside of the lid, which can be purchased at any hardware store. The hydrant is made from polyethylene plastic, so find a caulk that works well on plastics.

How does this item hold up to the hot and cold weather ?

Plastic Hydrant

We bought this plastic hydrant because the one it replaced eroded at the base. We place stones in the hydrant to keep it from falling due to wind, and our male dog loves it....the female does not use it. Although a little pricy, we feel it is worth it.

Definitely not worth fifty dollars!

My daughter and I buy a lot of things from Chewy and are usually always pleased with the products. This plastic fire hydrant is not worth the cost. It also came with the plastic inside the lid broken. In the description it says it cannot break? I kept it because I needed it as a gift for this weekend or else I would have returned it. It is a cute idea however I feel it is over priced.

Plastic fire hydrant

I bought this fire hydrant planning to put it over the wellhead in my yard since our four dogs pee on it frequently. It was already hollow, so I cut out the bottom and it fit perfectly over the post. I think it looks great and is a fun addition to the yard!

Disappointed

The top doesn't seal tight so cannot use for food storage, it didn't come with the sticker that goes on the top, I also think it's to pricey for a storage or toy box container

Great pee post

I have 2 small Yorkies and when we have to put them in their little(quite big) day care area this fire hydrant is great we put a pee pad under the hydrant in the middle of the area and it’s the only place they’ll go this is especially great for boy dogs since they have a tendency to lift their leg well now they have a place to do it! I’ve had it for a couple of years buying another today for a road trip Just rinse down when done

Perfect Pee Post

Excellent for Jaxon's pee-post. He loves it! I filled it with rocks and placed in the back yard. He now goes right to it instead of my pretty potted plants. The plan worked!

fire hydrant

I was really looking forward for this to come here. It has these scratches all over it that are unfortunately noticeable from far. Looked like “water marks” but are deep pealed off scratches.

Great Storage Idea

I bought this many years ago. I wanted to buy it again. I was excited to see Chewy had it!! I plan on using it to store Leashes and Harnesses. It’s just too cute!!

Perfect for Pup

Now we need to figure out how to train him to only go on/by the fire hydrant! It’s lightweight, we will likely put rocks in it so it doesn’t tip over. Cute.
