Great feed all around
I raise Coturnix quail and this feed is great for them. Ive tried many other feeds and they don’t hold up. The gamebird feed specifically has enough calcium so you don’t need to supplement, the other quail feed option by Hudson does not. The big bonus with this food is the lack of smell. I was using a feed by another brand and I bought it locally. It was a fair bit cheaper, at about $24 for 50 pounds, however, I need to supplement extra calcium, and some of them don’t like oyster shell. The poop with other brands smells bad fast, so I started switching my brooders and indoor birds over to this and the smell is gone. I’m going to try the starter by this company and see how it does, but I expect to be using Hudson exclusively from now on, despite being a bit more pricey. I have some birds that have some dietary needs that other feeds don’t fill. These birds have a combo of genes that makes them a bit weaker, and on previous feeds I had some stumbling and going lame, I gave them supplements and it improved, but when I switched the feed to Hudson, they were up and running in just days, and I was able to stop all other supplements. I can’t say enough good things about Hudson feeds, I wish I could buy it locally!
Excellent for Japanese Coturnix
I started mixing this with my Japanese Coturnix Quail starter crumbles at about 5 weeks old and they are transitioning perfectly. LESS WASTE with this than ever before. While crumbles leave lots of dust at the bottom of their bowls, these tiny little pellets are excellent and they eat them with 90% less waste. (sometimes they will spit out a large pellet if they find one). I recommend! Just transition them slowly - otherwise it can be hard to get them from crumbles to pellets quickly. Just start mixing about 25% at a time and then going up each week until it's 100% pellets.
My ducks and chickens love it! I can feed to both which make it easy (and they all love it!)
