The back length should be measured from the withers (not the collar) to the base of the tail, while the dog is standing in normal position.
-
The neckline measurement should be taken at the base of the neck, this being the widest point of the neck. The neckline of an overall can be larger than the circumference of the dog's neck, as it can be adjusted to fit a smaller neck.
-
The chest measurement should be taken at the widest point of the chest, from behind the front legs. To ensure sufficient freedom of movement, the chest of an overall should be 2-8 inches wider than the dog's chest.
-
The front leg length should be measured from the bottom of the rib cage along the inner side of the leg to the wrist bone. The legs of an overall are of an appropriate length when they reach down to the dog's forearms.

Tucker looks adorable; fit is perfect
By KNicole on Feb 15, 2021
After reading reviews I got the size 14 for my rat terrier/Jack Russell mix who measures 15” from neck to base of tail. The fit is perfect. He doesn’t love wearing it quite yet - he’s not accustomed to having something on his legs and just stands there when it’s on, rather than playing. When we go to the park, however, he sprints though the snow wearing this in combination with the Hurtta extreme warmer coat. It is so nice to know he is warm and dry enough to play outside in any weather. His sprinting makes it clear this suit and the coat don’t limit his mobility in any way, and both stay in place despite the vigorous play. Definitely a winner - going to buy another for my bigger dog After reading reviews I got the size 14 for my rat terrier/Jack Russell mix who measures 15” from neck to base of tail. L or M sizing is confusing, but product is good
By Remy on Feb 13, 2021
I like this little baked potato situation, but I had a hard time with the sizing. I got the 20M for my Formosan (Taiwan Dog). He is about 50 lbs, 20” long (from the withers), 26/27” chest, and a skinny long neck. He also has long dancer’s legs. The 20M looked a bit loose in some areas and yet pulling in others. After looking into the 22 and asking Hurtta why the 22L cheat and neck was so diff from the 22M, Hurtta said “Size L is special size for dogs with a deep chest, or narrow body and long legs, including Poodle and Whippet. This is why it is very narrow.” So, I think I should have gone with a 22L, but now it’s sold out. :( Size note: the outfit is very superior to other body suits in lots I like this little baked potato situation, but I had a hard time with the sizing. I do feel a bit disappointed that the 20M I ordered came with the seam coming apart from the zipper. I feel bad asking to return, especially when the size I need isn’t available. … more

Staying warm in the snow
By Flaxenmane on Feb 8, 2021
Lua loves her new bodysuit!!!!!!! It’s the first one she has had, and surprised us with how well she did with it...... being curly, I have to keep her trimmed short... she won’t stay outside long because of the cold temperatures - now she has fun playing outside without getting so cold ... thanks for a light weight warm bodysuit .............................................................................................................................................

Hurtta does it again
By Vanessa on Feb 12, 2021
I always been a fan of Hurtta products . My Luna a American Staffie gray hound mix loves the snow and winter, however she gets cold very easy. Our NYC apartment can get cold when the heat is not on, us we can put sweaters on and my other dog is long hair double coated so she’s fine but Luna keeps under the blanket from how cold she gets. I found this body suite, although a bit stressing to put on with a moving dog, worth it. Not even a minute on and my girl looked so happy curled up and fell asleep without needing a blanket on her. It does fit her loose a bit but I rather her have wiggle room than feel constricted. It’s not super big on her. Like a loose comfy t shirt . Great concept: some design features need work
By chyzar on Jan 23, 2021
This item is a great concept. Kyle gets chilly even with his Kong jacket when it's under 40 degrees. Hence the body suit. But there are some design features that just aren't great and/or aren't sturdily built. Cinches: these should be on the outside, especially the one around the pup's middle. On the inside and without something to hold it in place, this feature isn't helpful. We need this for our rat terrier because the suit slips and slides down his body during our walks. The picture shows the suit falling down passed his bum. The suit needs to be made in a way to accommodate various styles and sizes of tail. Seems the suit assumes the dog's tail will keep the suit from slipping, but this This item is a great concept. Kyle gets chilly even with his Kong jacket when it's under 40 degrees. The very first time wearing the suit, a gentle tug on the neck cinch broke the strap, so now that's unusable. All this said, Kyle is always warm on his walks but definitely doesn't enjoy us having to stop every 15 mins or so to pull up his suit. Hoping these features might be addressed in future versions! (Also, make an opening for the harness d rings while you're at it, so the harness can go under the suit!) … more

EXCELLENT Product
By rhetoric on Feb 17, 2021
I got this coat/body suit for my dog who is an English Setter. He was getting covered all over his body with giant ice balls from running in the deep wet snow when the weather was frigid. Not only did this suit solve the problem, it's incredibly well made. This is a dog who is big into roughhousing with his dog friends. No damage whatsoeverto the coat. And no more ice balls.

Snug and warm
By HennaPebbles on Jan 16, 2021
Fits perfectly and keeps me warm. It's my first winter and my humans did their research to identify items to get me through, in doing so they discovered the Hurtta brand. Based on product reviews and my measurements, Neck - 12" Back length - 15" Chest - 20" Legs - 10-12.5" my humans ordered the 14m and it fit perfectly as depicted. The warmer is extremely light with a thermal liner that keeps me warm. It's can be worn alone or as a layering piece. While red is my color, the color options for this item are limited to grey. Despite the limited color options, this is my first Hurtta item and I'm impressed. Can't wait to see what else my humans get me from this brand.

Just do it!
By samantha on Jan 4, 2021
So...I was super hesitant to buy this outfit. Sage is my 75# pit mix and he loves being outside but hates the snow! We've tried sweaters and jackets but nothing kept him warm so we bit the bullet and bought the "snow suit". He loves it!! It keeps him warm enough that he'll stay outside for 10-15 minutes (used to be only 5 ish) in 15 degree weather! Looks a little funny but man does it work. It's also reflective, easy to put on, and has a drawstring on the neck to tighten if needed (you can see Sages neck is too short for the full neck part). We purchased a 24M, he has a 32" chest and 24" from collar to tail and he typically wears an XL sweater! We could've put based a size smaller but I think So...I was super hesitant to buy this outfit. So far so good!
By emilysings on Jan 10, 2021
I bought this suit for my 40 lb Australian Kelpie so that she could be warmer on very cold trail runs. After reading reviews and seeing pictures I was still torn between the 18 and 20, but considering I knew she would be running in it, I opted for the 20. It is definitely not fitted, and is maybe a smidge long, but after pulling the drawstrings a little, I decided it was better to have a little extra room than risk her feeling constrained. It is quite possible the smaller size would have been perfect, but the 20 wasn’t obviously a bad fit, so I kept it. She has a long body even though her chest measurement was quite a bit smaller than the 20. wonderful but pay attention to sizing
By Jessica on Jan 6, 2021
This is an absolutely wonderful baselayer for hiking with my pup or just long, cold walks. It actually has a reflective layer inside the suit similar to lots of human clothes. I measured her approximately 6 times to make sure it was the proper fit, and according to product videos it was- as it was saying the back length is the most important. I ended up having to exchange a 24M for a 20M and it fits her great, barrel chest and all. My recommendation would be to follow the breed suggestions, then look at chest and back sizes.
