The back length should be measured from the withers (not the collar) to the base of the tail, while the dog is standing in normal position.
-
The neckline measurement should be taken at the base of the neck, this being the widest point of the neck. The neckline of an overall can be larger than the circumference of the dog's neck, as it can be adjusted to fit a smaller neck.
-
The chest measurement should be taken at the widest point of the chest, from behind the front legs. To ensure sufficient freedom of movement, the chest of an overall should be 2-8 inches wider than the dog's chest.
-
The front leg length should be measured from the bottom of the rib cage along the inner side of the leg to the wrist bone. The legs of an overall are of an appropriate length when they reach down to the dog's forearms.

Snug and warm
By HennaPebbles on Jan 16, 2021
Fits perfectly and keeps me warm. It's my first winter and my humans did their research to identify items to get me through, in doing so they discovered the Hurtta brand. Based on product reviews and my measurements, Neck - 12" Back length - 15" Chest - 20" Legs - 10-12.5" my humans ordered the 14m and it fit perfectly as depicted. The warmer is extremely light with a thermal liner that keeps me warm. It's can be worn alone or as a layering piece. While red is my color, the color options for this item are limited to grey. Despite the limited color options, this is my first Hurtta item and I'm impressed. Can't wait to see what else my humans get me from this brand.

Just do it!

So...I was super hesitant to buy this outfit. Sage is my 75# pit mix and he loves being outside but hates the snow! We've tried sweaters and jackets but nothing kept him warm so we bit the bullet and bought the "snow suit". He loves it!! It keeps him warm enough that he'll stay outside for 10-15 minutes (used to be only 5 ish) in 15 degree weather! Looks a little funny but man does it work. It's also reflective, easy to put on, and has a drawstring on the neck to tighten if needed (you can see Sages neck is too short for the full neck part). We purchased a 24M, he has a 32" chest and 24" from collar to tail and he typically wears an XL sweater! We could've put based a size smaller but I think So...I was super hesitant to buy this outfit. So far so good!
By emilysings on Jan 10, 2021
I bought this suit for my 40 lb Australian Kelpie so that she could be warmer on very cold trail runs. After reading reviews and seeing pictures I was still torn between the 18 and 20, but considering I knew she would be running in it, I opted for the 20. It is definitely not fitted, and is maybe a smidge long, but after pulling the drawstrings a little, I decided it was better to have a little extra room than risk her feeling constrained. It is quite possible the smaller size would have been perfect, but the 20 wasn’t obviously a bad fit, so I kept it. She has a long body even though her chest measurement was quite a bit smaller than the 20. wonderful but pay attention to sizing
By Jessica on Jan 6, 2021
This is an absolutely wonderful baselayer for hiking with my pup or just long, cold walks. It actually has a reflective layer inside the suit similar to lots of human clothes. I measured her approximately 6 times to make sure it was the proper fit, and according to product videos it was- as it was saying the back length is the most important. I ended up having to exchange a 24M for a 20M and it fits her great, barrel chest and all. My recommendation would be to follow the breed suggestions, then look at chest and back sizes.

Well-made but tough to put on a squirmy puppy!
By Dogmomma1989 on Jan 12, 2021
Ordered this for my long-necked mixed breed pup. I think it's well made and likely works well to help keep her warm but is a bit tough sometimes to get on! I have to put each front paw inside the stretched out elastic and carefully pull up so it doesn't snag her dew claw, and then they were smart enough to have a little snap button to close the top across the shoulders while you put the back legs in and finally zip it up on the top from the butt to the neck. Luckily this also fits my older dog who is much more patient when dressing her. :)

Surprisingly warm, stops Snowballing
By Jenna on Dec 28, 2020
This is a perfect jacket for my little guy on both the very coldest days ( we just did a5 degree run, great), but it’s especially great on those only moderately cold days when heavy snowballs get stuck all over his poodle curls. We walk and play over the course of a 2-3 mile off leash run regularly and this suit is fantastic! Fit: I had to modify a bit, but I’ve not found a company yet that fits my dog well! He’s a tall, slim built mini poodle, very athletic 17 lbs, 14” back, 15” upright neck, 20” chest that is deep, narrow and with a pronounced sternum. Got a size 14L. Body length is tight because of his chest pulling, so the adjustable waistband string is more on ribs than at waist. Like I said, nobody fits this guy, but Hurtta gets much closer than some! I will also add stretch cuffs to increase leg coverage on wet snow days. He has a K9 stretch Lycra bodysuit, but this one fits better, pulls his underarms less, and allows his natural hair to stay fluffier for insulation - all reasons it is well worth adapting to his odd build. Teach your buddy to stay in a stand and suiting up is super easy. All dog’s can learn. Use the snap to hold front legs in place, pull into backlegs and zip. Never slides to the side like so many coats do on my active guy, doesn’t leave his chest in the snow with every jump. Love, love, love! Love! … more

Finally, a jacket that fits!
By Hjohn on Dec 31, 2020
I've tried sweaters, jackets, and they either annoy the dog by turning her hair into velcro (sweater), or won't stay on outside (jacket), because of the sizing needs of the body shape of a Weimaraner. The Hurtta Body Warmer body suit is fantastic. a bit of a task to get all four legs in while zipping, but it works! The thing fits, the dog doesn't mind, and best of all, not to tight, and not to loose, it stays in place!

Aussies wearing coats?
By Tamara on Dec 9, 2020
I originally purchased a 20M as my Mini Aussie (32lb 20” long back) needed something to keep the snowballs off her armpits as well as a recovery jacket for her sport activities. When I got it the jacket was HUGE and even after adjustments she looked like she was wearing an ugly jumpsuit. I sized down to an 18M and it was much more form fitting with still allowing movement. I ended up using the 20M for my 50lb Aussie (22” length) instead who can’t fit in the 20M Hurtta raincoat soooo I’d say size down if you’re in between sizes.

Amazing Product!
By Macismommy on Dec 28, 2020
Thank you for getting this out so quick. I waited 3 weeks with no info from another company. I ordered on Sunday and received Monday. This was a necessity for my 11yr old Boxer rehabbing from TPLO surgery. She loves it walked like she was a pup again! Kept her warm and helped with her arthritis. Great Fit!

we like it! Sizing is tricky
By OutnAbout on Dec 16, 2020
we have a 40lb German Shorthair pointer who doesn’t realize she’s freezing until she stops running for a minute! The 18M size is maybe a little snug, but the fabric is stretchy and I think the next size would be way too big, so staying with the 18M. Also got size 14M for our 17lb cockapoo who needs coverage to cut down on the number of snowballs in armpits, on chest and legs. That size is perfect for her! Not stretched, but not too baggy!
