This dog parka is by far the best one I have ever purchased and I have owned dogs for over 50 years. From the reflective fabric for safety to the ease with which it slides over my dog, it is awesome. It feels like the quality you would expect from a well made ski parka for people. One of its best features, it has an adjustable storm collar that allows you to give your pet the coverage it needs based on conditions. I like it so much for my own dog which is a 11 year old Portuguese Water Dog that I am buying one for my grand dog, a 5 year old Portuguese.
Fits Lily, my Staffordshire, perfectly. No more shivering when she goes out in winter. Figuring out the butt/ hind legs straps was a challenge but once I got it down, they work perfectly to keep that area warm and the coat in place so she can do her business without the coat in the way. I give this coat 5 stars easily.
I have a 12 year old Black Mouth Cur and a 9 year old Catahoula Cur- Pit mix. Both are rescues and have very little in the way of natural coat growth for protection from our Wisconsin winters. I've used a number of other brands of coats and coverings for them, but there was always something not-quite-right about all of them and we'd soon tire of them and stop using them. In recent years, we've even cut back on our walks as they've gotten older and I've become slightly more disabled. This year we've tried the Extreme Warmer Parka and couldn't be happier! I bought 2 of the size #26 and I probably could have gone with the #24. I was trying to be sure they weren't too small. The "foil" lining is great. I was afraid it was going to be crinkly or stiff or noisy, but it is instead very fabric-like and when I put my hand inside by their neck or shoulders, it is very warm and comfortable! The dogs are still getting used to the putting-on routine- both are very nervous/anxiety dogs- but once they're out on the trail, the only thing they are thinking about is finding/tracking rabbits, squirrels, deer, groundhogs, foxes- you name it! We just got back from a walk that we waited until it warmed up to 5 degrees to take. They were perfectly comfortable and that made me happy enough to stay out for over an hour with them!
This coat is so easy to put on & keeps my dog warm. I live in Minnesota and my dog wears this if its 20 deg or lower! It can get much colder than that so I really appreciate the warmth rating on this thing. Fantastic product, just bought another for my new dog. Highly recommend.
This jacket is really great quality! It kept our pup warm while it was snowing and she didn't show any signs of discomfort. I love that you can synch the neck gator to cover the ears! This is a very high quality jacket and relatively easy to put on. We got a size 22 for a 48 lb dog - she's on the taller and longer side!
This jacket is awesome. Great material, good waterproofing, and some good features that I hadn't noticed before ordering. My dog put it on right when it arrived and hasn't wanted to take it off since, which I take to mean that it's very comfortable. It slides on very easily, and has great adjustment straps for a good looking fit. My dog is barrel chested and thin, which generally makes fitting things difficult, but this fits securely and looks very nice.
I was worried this coat would be hard to put on. It's super easy. It looks super stylish, kinda futuristic. The coat seems to be super well made. My only complaint is that it doesn't dry as quickly as some of my pup's other coats. My dog is a roll around in the snow kinda pup, so drying time is important. If it weren't for that I'd give it 5 stars.
This parka is fantastic. When I first put it on him it was a sack, but once I shored everything up it fit great and he seems to love it, even the inner sleeve that fits over the ears. It is of such quality and so easy to adjust and put on. I work at a horse ranch and so am out in (at times) blistering cold and howling winds. Bill has no under coat and being my service dog, he must be with me always. That fact makes this Hurtta parka not only handsome, but necessary. This parka could have cost $250 and I would still buy it. Much thanks Chewy.
Made of materials you'd expect in a high quality human jacket. First short-haired dog I've ever owned. Went to Fairplay CO (elev ovre 10K') weekend before Thanksgiving. Did a little hiking, pic at Kite Lake 12,200' kept him warm & toasty despite at-times below 0 wind chill.
This dog parka is well made, I just measured the length incorrectly. Easy to slip on over my dog's head and adjust the belly band. The leg straps would be better if you could adjust them, I was worried that they would trip my dog.
