My mare was diagnosed with laminitis in all 4 hooves three years ago and has had a lifetime management of borderline insulin resistance. Managing her diet is critical, having laminitis tipped everything over the edge. I was introduced to Hygain and fortunate enough to have access to this grain from a friend who was importing it by the pallets for their show horses, when it was not typically available to the general market. At the time there was limited grain available with a low NSC but not as low as Hygain. I have used this product for THREE years. I am grateful it is now available to the mass market thru Chewy. Without a doubt this grain is a contributing factor to my mare's survival along with hay soaking, great medical care and an amazing orthopedic farrier. She has made a full recovery. Her transition to the grain was smooth and she is a picky eater. I highly recommend this product!

So far so good

I am still introducing Hygain to my horse and mixing it with the Triple Crown senior that I’m taking him off of for the summer maybe permanently depending on how he does on this Hygain Zero. So far so good. I love the 5.5% NSC for his Cushings and the high fiber

So far so good!

I have an ir/ Cushings gelding who has been on a balance feed for years. I started looking for a better match since most feeds are soy based (look up what soy does for this condition) and found this pea based feed. He really likes it and is so far sound. I might add he is on 1 mg of Prascend and I have added Chasteberry to his evening ration.

horses won’t eat

Sad.Ordered for my two mares because it has low nsc.Neither one would touch it.Tried mixing it in with hay pellets but still wouldn’t eat.Don’t know if it’s just because it may have a different taste or because something was wrong with it.Three other horses at barn spit it out when I gave them a small handful.I was excited to try it.So out the money I spent which is kind of expensive.

Literally a Lifesaver

My bay 401K was diagnosed insulin resistant in January and along with his other already existing conditions (navicular, soy intolerance, ulcer prone) finding a diet that fit his needs was daunting. We tested hay, balanced his new diet (ECIR/ Pete Ramey guidelines), and started Metformin, but he was not a fan.. After seeing no improvement in his condition, I scoured the internet as every crazed horse mom does and stumbled across Hygain Zero. Of course I have no local retailer, so I ordered directly from Hygain online. Ding Ding, we had a winner! He eats every bit and is back to his normal happy self! We're thrilled that Chewy now offers Hygain Zero and we can now Autoship!

Chewy hygain

I won't buy anymore horse feeds from Chewy as long as they want to charge a tax on horsefeed. It's not allowed in Florida! And nowhere else in Florida do they require you to fill out and turn an exemption forms. The only things taxable in Florida is what goes ON a horse not what goes IN a horse.

Great feed for PSSM horses

This feed has a very low NSC of 6%, is soy and grain free, and great for horses with metabolic issues and PSSM1 or 2. My horses love it and do great on Hygain Zero
