I've been feeding the Iams healthy aging food to my 15 year old sheltie for several years, and he likes it fine, but in the past two years it has doubled in price. In fact, since yesterday it has gone up another $3 for a 15 pound bag. I will be looking for a different kibble. This is not a premium food to be charging a premium price.
Iams proactive health for healthy aging has been great for my corgi. Her coated slicked out in just a couple weeks and it satisfies her hunger! Needless to say chewy did a great job of getting it here and a fair price!
I started using this dog food in October when Hills Large breed Senior dog food was unavailable and also had a big price increase. In 75 days I have noticed that my dog smells, has bad breath, loose stools, less energy and more inflammation. I have just reordered the Hills Sr Lg Breed dog food for my dog. He is worth it!!!
My order came during a rainstorm. I put a wheel barrow next to the gate so the driver could drop it in. Instead of dropping it in the wheel barrow they dropped it next to in the pouring rain. I'm 70 y/o and the pkg weighed almost 60#'s.
My senior does well with this food, just wish the kibbles were smaller for her. She has trouble chewing it. I will be switching to a food with a small kibble.
Nina is definitely starting to show her age. She is slowing down due to some arthritis and putting on a few pounds. It was time to switch foods. I was worried Nina would not like transitioning to a food for aging dogs. She did a lot of smelling of the food when I first started mixing it with her usually IAMS Minichunks food and then started to eat it slowly. I guess she liked it because she gobbled it up. There were no digestive problems or upset stomach. She loves it.
I'm always nervous about kibble bits being too big for my 15# shih tzu. These aren't tiny, but definitely are small enough that she can comfortably eat them without issue, even missing half of her teeth! After about a month, we've seen improvement in coat and skin health. She's on meds for arthritis, so I can't really speak to if the food is helping that, but it definitely hasn't hurt!
Tina loves this food. Chicken is her favorite flavor, she will turn 9 on March 1 and want to maintain her health.
We have fed IAMS foods to our puppies, to our younger labs and senior labs for over 16 years, and all of our pups young and old have always been, and are now, very healthy. Having the convenience of CHEWY in addition, just makes it a no brainer. At this point, we will continue with the total plan as long as things remain the same.
I have to overwhelm the kibble with gravied canned dog food in order to get my dogs to eat it. Less than spectaculer...
