When I first dispense this oil from the metal bottle, there's little smell. But in a few seconds when the dogs eat, and especially in the bowls afterwords, the stench is gag-worthy. Because my dogs have fuzzy faces, the stink lasts even after I try to clean them up. My veterinarian recommended oil rather than the capsules I was using, but I won't buy this brand again.
The pump stopped working within a couple weeks. When my vet recommended I give fish oil to my sport dogs, I figured we would finish this bottle since I had it already. I took the tube off the pump to make it easier to take the lid off, and used a tbsp scoop to measure the amount the vet said to give. Anyway, this is ridiculously messy. There's fish oil all over, and my kitchen smells like fish oil. Luckily, it is finally almost gone 2.5 months later. Also, one of my dogs completely stopped eating when we started adding this to her food, so we stopped giving it to her. The boys seem fine with it.
My dog suffered from dry scaling spots on his skin. Hot spots? Allergies? Parasites? Nope. Just dry skin. Added a couple of squirts of this oil to every meal and they went away and his skin and coat look great. And no fishy stink breath. My dog is very satisfied with this product.
The pump is horrible!! The oil coagulates around it preventing it from actually pumping. Even tried cleaning around it with alcohol just to try to use it up, but was not worth it. WASTE of MONEY!!!!
This has almost doubled in price in the last few months, while also going downhill in quality. Last bottle was dented and had a broken pump. They are just relying on people having auto ship so they can charge double price for an average product.
I love the size, packaging and price. The quality of product seemed good based on their claims. I haven’t been using it enough to see any results yet but I’m sure we will. The only complaint is that my cats seem to actually notice this when I add it to their meals. Which was surprising since it claims to be odorless and truly is. They never seemed to mind other fish oils, they usually love a good salmon oil actually. But I just mix it in with their food so they don’t noticed so it’s not a huge deal. But I may not repurchase as other fish oils usually encourage my cats to eat not stir them away.
Packing and metal bottle is better quality than the other brands I’ve tried. Not sure why it says unscented. It still smells like Fish Oil and it has a stronger Oder to me when I smell it on my pups face after dinner. In all, still a good product, not sure if it’s better quality per say. Works just as well as the competitors to me.
Pump got clogged almost immediately and leaked during use. The oil was still smelly but not quite as pungent as others. Dogs seemed indifferent to it and I didn’t really notice a change in their coats.
Though concerned about the negative reviews, I know how good Chewy is if an order has issues, so took a chance on this while it was on sale. Seems excellent: the two bottles we got both had an expiration 2 years out, the first bottle opened is nearly scentless, and the oil has a light orange tint as is correct for cold processed salmon oil. Salmon oil (along with Zyrtec) seems to be helping my german shepherd with his environmental allergies -- for sure it's made his fur silky smooth, and he's barely itching anymore, though the heavy lifting on that might be more the Zyrtec. Either way, the salmon oil is only helping, and my non-allergic shepherd gets it as well.
This looks like the other salmon oils but the size and quality of the bottle is much larger than the competitors. So I feel like I am getting twice the salmon oil. Definitely replacing the “Grizzly” brand (can’t remember exact name) I have been buying, esp bc their pumps stop pumping when there is still a lot in the bottle.
