No perforated tear strip to remove plastic seal, so cut X in rubber and pushed pump mechanism into it. No instructions on box or can. Is this the way it's intended to work? Or is that plastic/rubber seal meant to be removed?
Answer by ChewyJan 15, 2018
The manufacturer has over tightened the pump to make sure pet's supplement is safe. We encouraging pet parents to start by holding the white part of the pump with pliers, or your fingers, then screw counterclockwise to open.

Love the oil, but the pumps are hit or miss

I've been using this product for a very long time. My only compliant about it is the pump that comes with the bottle. Some of them work really well and then they went through a phase that they were too short since the longer ones weren't available anymore. Then they switched back to the longer, good pumps. Now this last bottle has a black pump and I don't care for it as much. It's not as nice, not easy to turn off and on (which I liked for when we travel), and it moves around too much when you pump it and doesn't seem to give you as consistent of an amount as the former style. Otherwise it's an amazing product and it seems to have done wonders for my dogs.

good product, bad pump

My dog seems to like the oil and I believe it works. It is a high-quality product. I wish I could say the same for the pump on the bottle. I have cleaned it and done everything I can think of to keep it from being a sticky mess, to no avail. I’m ordering the smallest bottle next time and hoping the pump dispenser lasts through this entire bottle. Fish oil everywhere is no fun!

many dogs NEED more oil than their food contains

My Aussie mix looks sort of like a Shelty or bald cypress tree, her tail and legs are so festooned with long trailing guard hairs. I feed her top shelf food, canned and dry mixed, but even that didn't give her enough oil. Her coat was still dull and wiry and she was itchy. So I tried salmon oil but that strong flavor got old quick and she started refusing meals, so I switched to this which tastes a lot milder. Now she eats happily and gets all the oil she needs, as proven by how soft and shiny she is. I've been surprised by other benefits: she doesn't get "wet dog" or "old dog" smells, ever. Her skin is much less irritable. Most burs slip easily out of her fur. Getting burs out used to be a two-handed job that took a while. If your dog is stinky and has a dull coat that feels icky, he NEEDS an oil supplement. It'll fix him right up, but be patient, it takes a while.

happy pets

My cats and dog all enjoy this oil. I enjoy the benefits and the sustainability/quality of the product. Only complaint is that the pump can be difficult to put in correctly and because of that I think my seal is leaking. It might be user error but I would definitely still buy again. And almost zero smell.

Easy to dispense

This product is leagues above other high concentration liquid omega supplements due to the ease of dispensing. No more squirting into a scoop and measuring getting fish smelling oil all over. Love it!

Shiny, Plush fur

Our cat absolutely loves this oil! No need to mix it in or hide it; just a pump on top of her raw rabbit or on a plate and it's the first thing she eats. Her fur is thick, shiny, and soft.

Great Product

Great product! My puppy's breeder feeds this to all her dogs and recommended I keep feeding it too. Cleared up my puppy's dry and flaky coat. Does not smell fishy at all.

Dog didn't like it

Seems like a good quality product but my dog didn't like it. He generally likes salmon-based dog foods. I was hoping to be able to use this with a good quality chicken food but it was an expensive mistake. It has a smell to it, not unscented.

Quality Product

This product has amazing quality. My cats would not touch their food if this was on it though. My dog will not eat his food now until it is put on there though. I ended up pouring the oil into a glass oil bottle so it is easily poured over the food, because the plunger started shooting the oil in all directions and with the smell of the oil - no, thanks. Overall will continue to buy and definitely recommend for dogs.

Great product but my cats wouldn't eat it

Great product and I know it has quality but my cats would not go near there food when I put this oil in it. It says unscented but I swear Nala and Ezra knows when its in the food and they won't eat. And ezra is not picky at all with her food! I wish they enjoyed it
