I use these in my mouse enclosures as stairs to the water bottles. I love that it also is a chew toy and tunnel/hide. I have 10 females in a 75 gallon so anything that can be used for multiple purposes is a must to keep my girls all busy and entertained!!

I love this small animal hideout! Not only is it affordable, but look how cute it is! I ordered the size small for my fancy mice. The hole on the side is approximately 1 1/2" wide. This was plenty of room for my mice to fit through. When I added this to their enclosure, I watched them play on it for half an hour and they were squeezing through the hole with no struggle at all. I highly recommend supervising your pet when you first introduce this. If I had felt there was any danger at all, I would have pulled it out. I ordered the small (which fits perfectly in my whole hand) because I already have other goodies in their enclosure and just wanted some new enrichment that didn't take up much roomI love this small animal hideout! I ordered the small (which fits perfectly in my whole hand) because I already have other goodies in their enclosure and just wanted some new enrichment that didn't take up much room. I would only recommend the size small for mice though. I would order up and get a size medium (if you have the room) for anything bigger than mice. That being said though, I would still use with caution because I honestly don't know if I would be comfortable giving this to my other rodents. Hamsters have unfortunately gotten stuck in the tubes from "hamster cages" and if the size medium of this product is smaller or even the same size as those openings then it's a definite no for me (for the larger rodents). Please just use with caution. I would like to mention as well that these hideouts are meant for small animals only (rodents). The company who makes these is Imperial Cat. Because of their name, I think it has caused a lot of confusion and folks have been led to believe these are for cats. This so far is providing the perfect enrichment for my littles. As far as durability, I believe it to be durable for a mouse. It is cardboard so they can easily chew this up if they want to, but they've been climbing all over it and it's still going strong. Overall, I am happy with this product. I would purchase again and I do recommend this for mice. :)… more

Bought this for my small deer mouse. I recommend getting the medium sized one. She is pretty small and the small size would be too small for her to squeeze through the holes.
Fun for a short-term toy!

I have 5 mice and they really enjoyed this cardboard hideout while it lasted! It was a fun toy and they enjoyed chewing it up. I will say that even my smallest mouse could not fit through the holes though because they're quite tiny and she's kind of chunky. If you have a Roborovski hamster however I think they might fit through the holes.
Good toy overall! Lasted a few weeks before they peed all over it and I had to toss it out.
Pay attention to the dimensions

I got these thinking they would be a good size for my cats to scratch and use. When I got them they were tiny, these can't be meant for cats to use. Should have checked the dimensions but I figured them being in the car scratchers category they would be a decent size for cats.
Kinda small for rats

My rats love climbing on this and chewing it up, but it's too small for them to really use as intended. They can't fit through the holes or climb much on it without knocking it over.
Great for mice!

My fancy mice were crazy about this! I got the size small and yes, my mice can and do squeeze through the tiny holes. While my mice have chewed quite it a bit, they prefer to climb and sit on the steps so I think it will last a long time.
Not what we expected

Don't know why we thought it was bigger. Its for a baby kitty rather than a 15 lb chub! Lol
We thought she'd be able to lounge in the curved steps. Our mistake.
NOT FOR CATS
on Nov 29, 2020
I admit, I didn’t read the description entirely when it comes to size. But I was searching CAT scratching posts and this came up. It even says imperial cat play. So for the price I thought wth. It’s for mice. Lol I laughed pretty hard at myself. But yeah. Not for cats.
ALWAYS LOOK AT THE MEASUREMENTS

So I thought I could make this work for 2 different animals. First something for my cats to scratch at and then maybe my little Chiweinnie could use them for stairs to help get on the couch....... YEAH NO!!!!! mouse size omg I felt stupid.
If you got a mouse then its super cute, but way to tiny for anything I can use for .For the first time , since I started shopping with Chewy I was disappointed ..
