FAQ

What is Incurin (Estriol)?

This is oral medication available in tablet form to help manage your female spayed dogs urinary leakage(incontinence).

What are the benefits of Incurin?

  • FDA-approved.
  • Treats your dogs urinary incontinence when it caused by hormonal changes that can result after ovariohysterectomy (spay).
  • Oral tablets are easy to give generally well-tolerated.

How is this medication given?

Incurin is given by mouth once daily. The dose is not based on your dogs body weight. Always follow your veterinarians precise directions. The recommended dose is to give 1 tablet (1mg) per day for 7-14 days. If this dose is effective after this time period, try to reduce the dose to the minimum possible dose. If treatment is ineffective at the lower doses, go back to the minimum dose that is effective. If treatment at 1mg daily is ineffective, the dose may be increased to 2mg daily for 7 days as directed by your veterinarian.

How does this medication work?

Incurin supplements female, spayed dogs with oestrogen. Replacing oestrogen will help to relieve your pets urinary incontinence when it is caused by low or absent oestrogen levels that occur as a result of the ovariohysterectomy (spay) surgery in female dogs.

What results can I expect?

Your dogs clinical symptoms should improve. He/she should stop leaking urine. Effectiveness is defined as no signs of incontinence for 7 consecutive days. An improvement will usually be noticed within a few days. Adjustment of the initial dose will often be necessary. Your veterinarian will help you to figure out the ideal dose of Incurin for your dog. Medication should be continued indefinitely if it is working.

    No more leaks

    By on

When your 140lb spayed, female, St. Bernard becomes incontinent it ain't pretty. She's embarrassed, uncomfortable and constantly licking herself. You, on the other hand are left to clean up random messes, replacing carpet and watching your big girl suffer...well, not since she's been on Incurin. This stuff is great. She's much happier which makes me thrilled and my household expenses are way down . The only side effect we've noticed is the occasional loss of appetite and every now and then it seems like she's drinking a lot. But again, No Leaks!!!

A little pill for a little "spill"!

    By on

This medication is for urinary incontinence. We have tried a couple of other things with our dog but this seems to work the best. However, it is not perfect (with our dog anyway). She still leaks a little if we try to push the dosage past 1 pill every 30 hours. But every dog is different, so I recommend trying it with your dog to see how well it works!

    Incontinence cure

    By on

My vet recommended this when Mira (at 11+ years more than a year ago) started uncontrolled piddling when she was laying down. Since starting on this, the piddling has stopped much to the relief of both my old dog (now 12-3/4) and my rugs, bamboo floors! The price at Chewy is pennies compared to what the vet charges.

    Very happy

    By on

Great price point for this medication that is difficult to get and expensive where we live. Our older beagle needs only 0.5 mg and while these tablets are small, they are easy to score to ensure proper dosage.

    Dry bottom

    By on

Our baby girl has spat incontence. she would wet herself in her sleep and her back side were she laid would be wet! She always looked like she was embarrassed. From day one she has been dry! It has taken longer to get enough in her system to start decreasing than the directions said but she’s the type all her medications seem to be double to everyone else!

    Spayed Female Incontinence

    By on

Vet prescribed for incontinence. Took a bit more than 1 month to work but in 2 months she no longer had accidents. She hates taking pills but it's small enough to not be a problem.
