Ideal feeding amounts will vary by age, weight, and activity level so the guide below should be used as an initial recommendation. Divide the per day by the number of feedings per day. Be sure to always provide clean, fresh water. Along with dry food, we recommend feeding raw or wet food to help increase the amount of water in your pet’s diet.

Transition Instructions

Always introduce a new food over a period of 5 - 7 days, mixing increasing amounts of Instinct with the current food each day.

Visit the Instinct Pet Food website for more specific feeding recommendations and information on how to easily combine different forms of food.

Instinct Limited Ingredient Diet Dog Food
1 ANIMAL PROTEIN

1 ANIMAL PROTEIN

The ingredient list is purposefully simple for pets with food sensitivities. It focuses on one animal protein and one vegetable—versus the mix of each you'll find in most pet foods.

SIMPLE AND ESSENTIAL

SIMPLE AND ESSENTIAL

Sometimes what's not included is just as important as what is. These recipes are made with grass-fed meat or cage-free poultry and always made without grain, dairy, eggs, potato, corn, wheat, soy or artificial ingredients.

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

They put the pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece of Instinct Limited Ingredient Diet by tumbling their kibble with crushed, freeze-dried raw—raising the bar in nutrition and taste.

The Pure, Real Nutrition of Raw Is In Everything Instinct Does

Instinct's Responsibility as The Raw Brand

LEAD WITH RAW

It all started with Instinct's raw pet food. Since the beginning, they've led with raw because they know the good it can do. They're rewriting the rules of pet food and championing raw nutrition to bring its superior benefits to all that they do.

KEEP IT REAL

Delicious and nutritious pet food should only use real ingredients. For Instinct, this means all-natural, real meat, fruits and vegetables, with nothing artificial.

MAKE IT SIMPLE

Feeding raw should be simple, and it should easily fit into your everyday routine. Instinct believes raw should be accessible to pet parents so every pet can experience the benefits of raw nutrition.

GIVE BACK

Instinct believes in the power of raw nutrition. It only makes sense to share it. Together with Best Friends Animal Society, they're furthering the no-kill movement and their shared mission of transforming and saving the lives of pets.

MAKE IT BETTER

Instinct has never been afraid to challenge the status quo of pet nutrition. They continuously redefine what better means—always pushing their standards of nutrition to raise the bar in pet food.

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

ONE MILLION MEALS

All pets deserve food that's real, nutrient-rich, grain-free and natural. That's why Instinct provides over one million meals annually to the dogs and cats at Best Friends Animal Society adoption centers nationwide. Because what we feed them can make all the difference. Here "we" refers to the pet parent, not Instinct.

About Instinct

Instinct believes deeply that it's up to them to find a way to make it possible for more people to feed their pets the pure, real nutrition that only comes from raw. They know that if they can get the nutrition of raw into more bowls, they'll transform the lives of more pets. And that's really why they do what they do.

  • High Quality - Great for Allergies

    By on

I had been using Royal Canin PR which my dog tolerated but did not eagerly look forward to eating. Royal Canin is a very low calorie food that recommended 5 1/2 cups per day. Instinct recommends 4 1/2 cups a lay for a 70 lb dog. BIG difference. Both foods relieved his allergies but my dog eats Instinct eagerly. Well worth the price especially when compared to Canin.

  • Yummy choice!

    By on

My dogs love this food. Sometimes its hard to find flavorful choices with a limited ingredient recipe. Chewy.com was already helpful and recommended a substitute when my original choice was no longer in stock!

  • Downsized!

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

I was very happy with this food and felt that it was a reasonable price for a 25.x lbs bag. Now it's down to a 20# bag and no price deviation. It went from being a fair deal to just totally unreasonable. Which really sucks because my dogs did wonderfully on the limited ingredient formulas, and on the reduced fat formula which is now entirely gone. Double triple whammy.

  • Cured Two Springers of Diarrhea

    By on

We spent hundreds on vet bills trying to figure out why our two English Springer puppies had very soft stools, and eventually, outright diarrhea. Finally it occurred to us to wonder if diet was a factor. So we took them off of (premium!) food containing chicken and beef and put them on the Instinct duck kibble. Almost instantly, firm, normal stools!

My dog does not eat the bag I got from chewy for some reason. But he likes the same brand bought from store.

  • They Changed the Recipe!!

    By on

I have searched and searched for a kibble that my dog, who has multiple allergies, can eat. I finally came across this food and it was amazing. We both LOVED it! Now I go to order another bag because we're almost out only to find out that they have changed the recipe. They have now added pumpkin seeds, which of course, she is allergic to. Needless to say, I am NOT happy.

  • Great food, but bag downsized, not price.

    By on

I took a star away because the large bag now contains more than 20 percent less of the same food without the price coming down 20 plus percent. The company also redesigned the bag. It is now very thin and flimsy compared to the old bag. I sliced the bag clean through when I opened the box from Chewy, which has never happened before. The opening pull tab didn't work for me, and once I got it open it was very hard to reseal. That said, it is great food that my 10 year old cocker spaniel likes. He has to be on a limited ingredient diet due to health issues, and this is the best limited ingredient dog food I could find. • working well so far

    By on Top 500 Contributor

Adding this new food very slowly to my dogs' other food that is duck and oatmeal. So far they are both tolerating it and love it. Hoping it will be another good choice for my GSD that has many food intolerances.

Our Beagle, Remy-Martin suffers from multiple allergies so our Vet advised us to put him on a limited ingredient diet of duck and potato. Remy loves his new diet! The quality of this product and its' reasonable price, make it a win-win for all of us.
