Feeding Instructions

Ideal feeding amounts will vary by age, weight, and activity level so the guide below should be used as an initial recommendation. Divide the cups per day by the number of feedings per day. Be sure to always provide clean, fresh water. Along with dry food, we recommend feeding raw or wet food to help increase the amount of water in your pet’s diet.

Daily Feeding Guidelines (standard 8 oz dry measure cup):

Weight Adult Maintenance Daily Feeding (Cups) Weight Loss Daily Feeding (Cups)
5 lbs 3/8 1/4
10 lbs 1/2 3/8
15 lbs 3/4 1/2

Transition Instructions

It is always a good idea to start out slowly on a new diet with any pet. Slowly increase the amount of new food being added to the present diet over a period of 5 - 7 days. If any digestive upset or loose stool occurs, make the transition more gradual. It is a good idea to allow your pet's digestive system to calm down and return to normal before proceeding.

  • Kitties aren't crazy about it...

    By on

I purchased this product as a replacement for the Science Diet Prescription Rabbit (only meat protein source) dry food, as the allergist said I could switch to something a bit more affordable. I was excited to find a Limited Ingredient food that is not prescription, and a bit more reasonable for my budget. This kibble is quite small and really dry, whereas the other was not soft, but softer than this. The kitties are not very enchanted with this food, although it's only been about 2 weeks. I have one kitty who actually prefers dry food to canned food, and even she is not electing to eat the dry first. • Cat refused to eat

    By on

My cat has been on hypoallergenic and limited ingredient foods due to food allergies. The one he has been on is okay but his allergies were still not as controlled as I would have liked. This food had exactly the ingredients that I was looking for and it looked perfect! Unfortunately, my cat did not feel the same way. There honestly were maybe 5 pebbles mixed in with his regular food and he went on a hunger strike for 2 days. Even when I washed his bowl and replaced it with just his regular food he absolutely was not having it. I finally convinced him I wasn't going to put any more of this food in and he's eating now. Very expensive bag of food for my cat to not eat it :( It does seem like a My cat has been on hypoallergenic and limited ingredient foods due to food allergies. • Great for cats with food allergies

    By on

My 14 year old cat was recently diagnosed with a food allergy. He has never been allergic to anything in his life before now. After trying a couple of other limited ingredient/grain free foods, I opted to spend the extra money on this one as it is a "novel protein" for my cat. He is a little bit picky and has had digestive issues in the past. He loves this food! His skin is clearing up and no digestive issues so far. If you are having a hard time with food allergies--this is a great product to try!

  • Outdoor cat loves this food!

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

My eight year old, outdoor cat loves his mice and squirrels but he comes running across the field for this food every morning! I soak 1/3 cup of food in a little warm water for about 5 minutes. He gobbles it up in no time! Seriously, he makes smacking, gulping sounds while he stuffs his mouth in record time. I switched from another high quality brand that uses the same clay and although he liked that food, too, this one doesn't have the specific probiotic I was trying to avoid. I've been feeding this for 2 weeks and haven't noticed any problems. He had no problem transitioning to this food. His coat and skin are the same and so are his eyes, mouth/gums and ears. I watch him closely since he's outdoors 90% of the time. He loves it and seems to do well on it - it's a keeper! I deducted one star for peas being the 2nd ingredient. That means they rely on the protein from peas as at least half the total protein reported. I would prefer the amount of peas to be much, much less. Cats don't eat peas and neither do their prey. … more

  • Thank Goodness for LID Rabbit Kibble

    By on

My 11 year old tabby was recently diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease; his appetite was poor and he was vomiting and had frequent loose stools. I wanted a novel protein and a grain free diet for him and this recipe fits the bill. He seems to really like this rabbit kibble more than anything else I've tried with him and the grain free recipe and limited ingredients seem to be gentler on his digestive system.

  • Too rich for my cats' blood and my wallet

    By on

I have a cat with IBD so I've been trying desperately to find something that he could eat. My other cats eat this, but there's an awful lot of vomiting. I think it's too rich for their stomachs. And it's pricey, but I suspect it's because they don't add fillers, for which I'm thankful. Tuffy, my IBD cat, rarely even looks at it.

  • Unique Protein Source

    By on

After chicken, turkey or salmon again and again...it's a good feeling to be able to offer my kitties something different and something they'd probably hunt after in the wild! Would give 5 stars but they're still loving it mostly yet on some days ...still getting used to it? Might be richer or heavier to digest?

  • Cat like it

    By on

Our cat Robin has food allergies and rabbit is OK for her (no chicken). We tried this and she is happy and no allergy issues. Tried others but 'limited ingredients' is somewhat of an issue with those as they still have 'other' ingredients not just rabbit.
