Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

They put the pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece of Instinct Original by tumbling their kibble with crushed, freeze-dried raw — raising the bar in nutrition and taste.

The Pure, Real Nutrition of Raw Is In Everything Instinct Does

Instinct's Responsibility as The Raw Brand

It all started with Instinct's raw pet food. Since the beginning, they've led with raw because they know the good it can do. They're rewriting the rules of pet food and championing raw nutrition to bring its superior benefits to all that they do.

Delicious and nutritious pet food should only use real ingredients. For Instinct, this means all-natural, real meat, fruits and vegetables, with nothing artificial.

Feeding raw should be simple, and it should easily fit into your everyday routine. Instinct believes raw should be accessible to pet parents so every pet can experience the benefits of raw nutrition.

Instinct believes in the power of raw nutrition. It only makes sense to share it. Together with Best Friends Animal Society, they're furthering the no-kill movement and their shared mission of transforming and saving the lives of pets.

Instinct has never been afraid to challenge the status quo of pet nutrition. They continuously redefine what better means—always pushing their standards of nutrition to raise the bar in pet food.

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

All pets deserve food that's real, nutrient-rich, grain-free and natural. That's why Instinct provides over one million meals annually to the dogs and cats at Best Friends Animal Society adoption centers nationwide. Because what we feed them can make all the difference. Here "we" refers to the pet parent, not Instinct.

About Instinct

Instinct believes deeply that it's up to them to find a way to make it possible for more people to feed their pets the pure, real nutrition that only comes from raw. They know that if they can get the nutrition of raw into more bowls, they'll transform the lives of more pets. And that's really why they do what they do.

  • My dog likes this!

    By on

My dog has food allergies to normal protein sources (chicken, turkey, lamb) so having options for several novel protein sources is extremely beneficial to us! I also like that this food is comparable to more expensive varieties from stores.

  • Great food

    By on

I really bought this for my little Pomeranian but my young Siamese cat loves it too and now it's all she will eat. They both eat out of the same bowl. Oh well, I guess that won't hurt anything. It does have a pretty fishy smell...so, don't stick your head into the bag!

  • Gaston's search for a good quality food

    By on

I adopted Gaston in May and have been combing through the online Dog Food Advisor for 5 star foods. I was in hopes of finding a quality food for a decent price. We have always had good luck with Natures Variety with our allergy ridden dogs. We tried several others and now we are back to this brand. Not having to buy the limited ingredient one this time around. It really helps with shedding and he loves it. Drools like crazy when I am getting his meal. He is a large breed and it doesn't take half a bag to feed him either.

My old Lab has had multiple foods in recent months for various reasons and I hope we'll stick with this one because she likes it and it seems to be good for her too.

I rotate among Instinct chicken, turkey& duck, and salmon for my 12 year old border collie mix. She loves all. She has been an avid consumer of these her whole life.

Love it, I changed flavors because I was told this flavor would possible help with eye stains on white dogs. So far it does seem to be helping.

  • Best food around!

    By on

I absolutely LOVE this food for my shepherd who has food sensitivities. His coat and skin look wonderful when he's eating this food. The only downside of this food is the built in zip lock is not very functional when you open the bag which is a little disappointing since I was so excited to see a way to close the big bags of food built in, but it's only a minor flaw. Still the best dog food and we will be using it for a long, long time!

  • Great brand, but smelly

    By on

We have been feeding our Weim Natures Variety for most of his five years of life. Great brand, he does well on this gluten free diet, but the salmon.... ooohh smelly!! The odor of the food fills our entire garage, everyone in the house knows when Wilson gets fed because of the stink he from his bowl. We will stick with Natures Variety but go back to the chicken.
