She refuses so many dog foods but comes running when she sees me go to the pantry to get her Instinct Original Small Breed Beef Recipe! Even takes some “hated medication if I wrap it in this food.

I have a chihuahua and she loves instinct for small breeds. The cans are small, but she doesn’t eat much so it’s ok.

    Passes the taste test...

    By on

Well, firstly, as pet owners we like to know if dogs like the taste. My pekingese-chihuahua mix loves it. She was really picky too, and I had major fingers crossed when I served her her first Instinct meal. She is a rescue, and when I adopted her, she had anal gland issues and a raging rash on her bum. Looked like monkey butt. So, I researched anal gland issues and skin allergies and grain free and limited ingredient (no poultry either) seemed to be what people were saying was a good move. She did get an antibiotic shot, so that cleared up her skin, but with all the licking on her derrier with the glands, we were going to be going in circles. I also looked up a bone broth/psyllium husk concoction Well, firstly, as pet owners we like to know if dogs like the taste. My pekingese-chihuahua mix loves it. I also looked up a bone broth/psyllium husk concoction to beef up her stools (if you go this route, be very careful as this gelatin type stuff can choke a dog if they take a big ol' swallow of it. I break it up and mix it into the Instinct grain free food very carefully and thoroughly). With the help of Instinct grain free and also Instinct limited ingredient lamb, and nice fat stools to naturally express her glands, she has been doing great! Highly recommend, even if your dog doesn't have issues, this is a high quality product and won't introduce things that your dog could become allergic to. … more

    Moderate interest by my dogs

    By on

I am trying lots of canned dog foods right now. I have an older dog with Stage One renal problems. The extra moisture in canned food is good for his kidneys. This pate is not palatable to him. I am moving on to the next different canned food. My other dogs who are not at all picky, are not fans either. But will eat it as a side dressing on their kibble.
