  • Beef Food is Too Dry

    By on

I absolutely love the Instinct brand and so does my cat... it has worked wonders on her sensitive tummy. However, the beef wet food was definitely not a hit. It was extremely dry and thick with a white film on top. My cat wouldn't touch it even when I added some water to it, and she is not a picky eater. She loves the chicken and salmon and we've never had an issue with either of those, but I will never buy the beef again. Pretty much all of it went to waste. Something is clearly wrong with it.

  • Brina Loves This Stuff

    By on

"Brina" ....my dog's cat, loves this stuff. I have recently make the comittment to upgrade her diet as she is about 9 years old now and I wish her to have the best diet possible to help insure her long life. But, of course, it must be food that she likes and eats with excitement....this fits the bill...

  • This cat food is a pate.

    By on

I have to add some water to this cat food because otherwise it’s hard and dry. It has white flakes throughout which I assume is calcium carbonate since it’s listed in the ingredients. It doesn’t look very palatable but my cats do like it.

  • Disgusting!!!

    By on

Let me just say that I don't usually write reviews but I wanted to warn people about this particular flavor, Beef. I have used several cans and it is extremely dry and pastey and there is all this white fatty gunk throughout. I think it's fat. I have 4 cats. 2 are extremely picky and don't really like beef at all but my other 2 young cats (Fiddle and Cello) eat whatever is on the menu. They ate this the first couple of times but I tried serving it again the other day and Fiddle refused it. He is not picky but when I put it down he smelled it and he looked at me like I was crazy for feeding this to him again. It's not juicy at all and the white fat makes it inedible. • Disappointed

Every single can is dented. Texture of food is sub-par. Difficult to mix in the probiotics as this food is dry.

  • Horrid, but she eats it!

    By on

I was aghast when I opened the can..the food was completely covered in white gunk. I immediately called the company and was told they don't use preservatives and the white was simply part of the processing. That made no sense to me but my Tessa eats the food. However, I will not buy the beef variety again. I don't trust what I was told about the "white gunk"~

  • Dry Pasty Formula

    By on

This formula is odd. It is completely dry with no juices in it whatsoever. I even looked at the can to make sure it wasn't expired! When you spoon it out of the container it has a paste consistency. My cat refused to eat it. Nothing against Chewy though-- they are great as always.

  • Somethings changed?

    By on

I feel like somethings changed in the beefs formula. The wet food is really dry and thick (almost like a paste) and my cats, who used to love it, wont even touch it now. Unlike the chicken formula, which still has a lot of moisture or "liquid" when you open the can and seems more appetizing.

  • Disgusting

    By on

Originally this food looked and smelled very nice and our cat loved it. However, our recent shipments are covered in gross white grease and we do not feel comfortable feeding this to our cat. It looks so disgusting. Clearly they changed the formula and decreased the quality of the food. Chewy sent us replacement cases for the gross cans, but those were also disgusting (not Chewy's fault, this is all on Instinct) We won't be feeding our kitty this awful food anymore. The other varieties of instinct wet that we have replaced this beef with seem great still: chicken, turkey, and salmon.
