Instinct saved my cat. And my sanity. Some people may read that and think "yeah right" but I literally mean that Instinct SAVED my cat. I have two cats, one with severe food allergies. So she can only have certain novel proteins. For months, I was cycling her through different brands of food, different flavors, prescription diets and supplements. She would eat what I gave her for anywhere between a day and a week before she couldn't keep it down. Of course it was extremely frustrating to clean up cat vomit so often, but to see my poor baby not able to keep her food down, seeing her in pain and sick, was heartbreaking. I started seeing major changes in her mood, her energy, her health and I couldn't take it anymore. About a month ago, I started her on the Instinct venison formula as a last resort before spending hundreds of dollars on specially formulated probiotics and prebiotics. After about two days, she started getting more active, she was getting more affectionate and she actually had an appetite. Here we are a month later and she hasn't thrown up once. I couldn't be happier or more thankful. … more

  • Case if Instinct Venison food

    By on

I recently found out that Quincy had a food allergy. I spent a small fortune on doctor visits and a ton of cans of popular brand name food after eliminating any chicken, chicken by product and chicken by product meal. His coat and the place on his neck have gone away. And the hair is growing back fastly. This poor little guy has dealt with this since being a kitten. I had no idea what he had been going through over these last three years Now he anticipates the food and meows with excitement as I take the food from the can to the plate. I firmly recommend this cat food for any cat with a food allergy The product is fantastic!

  • Great for a rotation diet

This is probably Kali's second favorite food besides the Rabbit flavor. She has food allergies and this doesn't have chicken or eggs in it so she tolerates it well

  • Cats wouldn't go near it

My cats used to like to like the Venison, but now they won't go near it. Not sure if Instinct changed their formula or what. I've tried everything to adding a little warm water to make a gravy. Cats still won't go near it

I switch back and forth from rabbit (a litter too loose in texture but still very good), to Venison (and Lamb). Heavier texture (good!) but not mushy... cats love it, and happily clean up their bowls.

  • Actual meat

My cat is on a limited ingredient diet and I was initially feeding him the venison formula from Natural Balance. Due to formula changes, Natural Balance venison transformed from ground meat to a GRAY PASTE! Gross! Long story short, the Nature's Variety venison is similar to what Natural Balance was before the formula change. When you open a can of Nature's Variety venison, you see actual ground meat. There's also a bit of fat on top and the occasional bit of carrot or some peas. The meat is a bit dense, but nothing a bit of water can't fix (and more water is good for cats anyway!). This brand is way more expensive, but everything in the can is identifiable as food. My Bangel cat will not eat any of this brands food. I was looking for a high protein, food that I thought he would like but I'm stuck with many cans that he won't touch.
