The Pure, Real Nutrition of Raw Is In Everything Instinct Does

Instinct's Responsibility as The Raw Brand

It all started with Instinct's raw pet food. Since the beginning, they've led with raw because they know the good it can do. They're rewriting the rules of pet food and championing raw nutrition to bring its superior benefits to all that they do.

Delicious and nutritious pet food should only use real ingredients. For Instinct, this means all-natural, real meat, fruits and vegetables, with nothing artificial.

Feeding raw should be simple, and it should easily fit into your everyday routine. Instinct believes raw should be accessible to pet parents so every pet can experience the benefits of raw nutrition.

Instinct believes in the power of raw nutrition. It only makes sense to share it. Together with Best Friends Animal Society, they're furthering the no-kill movement and their shared mission of transforming and saving the lives of pets.

Instinct has never been afraid to challenge the status quo of pet nutrition. They continuously redefine what better means—always pushing their standards of nutrition to raise the bar in pet food.

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

All pets deserve food that's real, nutrient-rich, grain-free and natural. That's why Instinct provides over one million meals annually to the dogs and cats at Best Friends Animal Society adoption centers nationwide. Because what we feed them can make all the difference. Here "we" refers to the pet parent, not Instinct.

About Instinct

Instinct believes deeply that it's up to them to find a way to make it possible for more people to feed their pets the pure, real nutrition that only comes from raw. They know that if they can get the nutrition of raw into more bowls, they'll transform the lives of more pets. And that's really why they do what they do.

  • I think as good as orijen

    By on

I've switched my cat to this food from orijen since chewy is getting rid of orijen. It has good ingredients and my cats fur looks good, also she hasn't gotten sick from it. I mixed it with the old food a little bit at a time and now she eats it all

  • Texie Loves her Chicken Food

    By on

Texie is two years old, part Siamese, and has been fed grain-free Nature's Instinct chicken flavor cat food. She is doing well physically and just had her two-year checkup. The vet said she is doing well, her teeth are in great condition and Texie got an overall good health checkup. In addition to the hard food, we also give her the smaller 3-oz. can at one-half can two days in a row as a treat. Again, the soft food is also chicken flavor, her favorite!

  • Not Good for Ferrets Anymore!

    By on

Since they updated the recipe, they added peas. Peas have been associated with bladder stones in ferrets, therefore this food is no longer recommended for ferrets. The Ultimate Protein version does not have peas, so that is a safer alternative. It's a shame - the ferrets loved this food, especially the raw bites!

  • best food out there

    By on

my three year old male cat has been eating this food since he was about six months old. although this food is slightly pricey, i wouldn't feed my pets any other brand! not only does my cat love it but he has a fantastic skin and coat quality and has always been in perfect shape!

  • Probably really good

    By on Top 500 Contributor

I bought this as an alternative to Acana, since Chewy won't be able to carry Acana anymore. Well, my little princesses eat the raw pieces but not the kibbles. Sigh!

  • Chewy Customer Service is the best!

    By on

My cats honestly didn't care for this flavor.. I have gotten other flavors in the past and they were fine. Ingredients are amazing. But my reason for this review is the exceptional customer service that chewy provides. I opened the bag a little over a week ago and my cats have barely touched it.. still have 1/2 a bowl sitting there. I didn't expect a yes, but i asked a customer service rep from Chewy if they would accept it since it's already been opened, and they said "sure no problem. we'll refund your money right away. just donate the bag of food to a local shelter" -- Freakin spectacular!

  • Great for ferrets

    By on Top 250 Contributor

I bought this food after searching for a dry kibble for my ferrets. Ferrets have a very digestive sensitive system and cannot digest fiber; and need kibble that is high in protein and fat. After spending a couple hours comparing protein and fiber percentage, I decided to go with this one. My ferrets just love it. Currently my cats eat friskies but I think I am going to just buy this for the cats as well. Can't recommend for cats yet, but ferrets give it two paws up!

  • Keeping the Manx healthy

    By on

My manx has stomach issues and this is the one food that has kept her regular. She lives in a multi cat household so the food has been liked by everyone, which isn't always the case. ^..^ I was worried when we couldn't get it with autoship. I am hoping it is just because the company is changing labeling and not an issue where we won't be able to get it each month.

My cats acted like they never had food in their lives. They were practically attacking the bag.

  • best food ever

    By on

I finally found a food I can trust with no garbage in it to feed my furbabies!. If I wouldn't eat it, why should I feed it to my cats? The pet food industry is trying to save hundreds of dollars by adding fillers and by-products to pet food at the consumers and their pets' expense, making them sick. I truly believe in giving my babies the best food to prolong their lives and keep them healthy and happy, and this food is it.
