Ideal feeding amounts will vary by age, weight, and activity level so the guide below should be used as an initial recommendation. Divide the per day by the number of feedings per day. Be sure to always provide clean, fresh water. Along with dry food, we recommend feeding raw or wet food to help increase the amount of water in your pet’s diet.

Transition Instructions

The Pure, Real Nutrition of Raw Is In Everything Instinct Does

Instinct's Responsibility as The Raw Brand

It all started with Instinct's raw pet food. Since the beginning, they've led with raw because they know the good it can do. They're rewriting the rules of pet food and championing raw nutrition to bring its superior benefits to all that they do.

Delicious and nutritious pet food should only use real ingredients. For Instinct, this means all-natural, real meat, fruits and vegetables, with nothing artificial.

Feeding raw should be simple, and it should easily fit into your everyday routine. Instinct believes raw should be accessible to pet parents so every pet can experience the benefits of raw nutrition.

Instinct believes in the power of raw nutrition. It only makes sense to share it. Together with Best Friends Animal Society, they're furthering the no-kill movement and their shared mission of transforming and saving the lives of pets.

Instinct has never been afraid to challenge the status quo of pet nutrition. They continuously redefine what better means—always pushing their standards of nutrition to raise the bar in pet food.

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

All pets deserve food that's real, nutrient-rich, grain-free and natural. That's why Instinct provides over one million meals annually to the dogs and cats at Best Friends Animal Society adoption centers nationwide. Because what we feed them can make all the difference. Here "we" refers to the pet parent, not Instinct.

About Instinct

Instinct believes deeply that it's up to them to find a way to make it possible for more people to feed their pets the pure, real nutrition that only comes from raw. They know that if they can get the nutrition of raw into more bowls, they'll transform the lives of more pets. And that's really why they do what they do.

  • Different than Store

    By on

My dogs like this brand food. This was my first time purchasing from Chewy. Although the kibble was the same, the raw portion was darker and more moist then what I have purchased from the store. Dog bowel movements and interest in the food has not changed so I am hopeful the difference is okay.

We got our lab when he was 9 weeks old, and he had a very sensitive stomach. This has been the only food that kept him normal, and he loves it too!

  • Our springer puppy loves it

    By on

We started feeding the small breed version to our 8 year old teacup poodle, and it really helped him put on some needed weight. We just got an English Springer Spaniel and she loves the puppy formula and is doing great on it!

  • Good food but kibble size is too large for my puppy

    By on

This food is good, but it is far too large for my three pound yorkie. I appreciate the grain-free aspect and the attempt to include freeze dried chicken, but the kibble size makes it difficult for her tiny mouth and baby teeth.

  • Where's the Chicken

    By on

Purchased this product and realized that the chicken bits would take on some of the color of the kibble however their shape is different. The pieces of chicken were so few and far between that I had a hard time finding them. Chewy's graciously refunded my purchase and the people at Instinct told me that the product is done in batches and the amount of chicken varies....Sorry...this product is too pricey to hope you get a good bag....

Recently I switched to Instinct Raw Boost Large Breed puppy food. Let me tell you, this stuff don't last long in his bowl. I had him on a different raw infused puppy receipe that he also really loved, but they didn't have the large breed option

  • Carolina Dog Puppy Did Not Like

    By on

I have a Carolina Dog puppy. She did not like this at all. She would sniff it and then walk away. I'm not sure what it is, but the smell is pretty funky and I'm sure that's what turning her off from trying it.
