Be sure to always provide clean, fresh water. Along with dry food, we recommend feeding raw or wet food to help increase the amount of water in your pet’s diet.

The Pure, Real Nutrition of Raw Is In Everything Instinct Does

Instinct's Responsibility as The Raw Brand

LEAD WITH RAW

It all started with Instinct's raw pet food. Since the beginning, they've led with raw because they know the good it can do. They're rewriting the rules of pet food and championing raw nutrition to bring its superior benefits to all that they do.

KEEP IT REAL

Delicious and nutritious pet food should only use real ingredients. For Instinct, this means all-natural, real meat, fruits and vegetables, with nothing artificial.

MAKE IT SIMPLE

Feeding raw should be simple, and it should easily fit into your everyday routine. Instinct believes raw should be accessible to pet parents so every pet can experience the benefits of raw nutrition.

GIVE BACK

Instinct believes in the power of raw nutrition. It only makes sense to share it. Together with Best Friends Animal Society, they're furthering the no-kill movement and their shared mission of transforming and saving the lives of pets.

MAKE IT BETTER

Instinct has never been afraid to challenge the status quo of pet nutrition. They continuously redefine what better means—always pushing their standards of nutrition to raise the bar in pet food.

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

ONE MILLION MEALS

All pets deserve food that's real, nutrient-rich, grain-free and natural. That's why Instinct provides over one million meals annually to the dogs and cats at Best Friends Animal Society adoption centers nationwide. Because what we feed them can make all the difference. Here "we" refers to the pet parent, not Instinct.

About Instinct

Instinct believes deeply that it's up to them to find a way to make it possible for more people to feed their pets the pure, real nutrition that only comes from raw. They know that if they can get the nutrition of raw into more bowls, they'll transform the lives of more pets. And that's really why they do what they do.

  • Great quality, but pricey

We use the Natures Variety Instinct adult food for our adult dog but chose to try a less expensive brand for the puppy food. After months of our puppy turning his nose at it & attempting to eat our adult dog food, we decided to try the same brand as the adult food. The NV-I lg breed puppy food meets (and sometimes exceeds) the AAFCO min recommendations for nutrition while meeting the criteria for a healthy Ca to P ratio taking into acount the calories per unit. This is important in being proactive toward preventing hip dysplasia. The food also settled well with our puppys sensitive tummy. It caused no GI distress in transitioning. He has had trouble when transitioning food in the past. We use the Natures Variety Instinct adult food for our adult dog but chose to try a less expensive brand for the puppy food. • Totally inconsistent

    By on

I've purchased this item 3 times for my lab puppy. The first time, there were a lot of "raw boost" nuggets. The second time, the bag was about 25% dust, as if I had gotten the bottom of the barrel, or maybe a truck ran over it, and there were a lot less "raw boost" nuggets. The third time, the size of the food had completely changed from round pieces to little flat discs and there were almost no "raw boost" nuggets at all. My dog isn't really wild about it, either, but he eats it and he's healthy, so....I will definitely switch brands when it's time to move on to an adult food.

  • Great food!

    By on

We've been having such issues finding a food for our pup that she likes, and doesn't upset her stomach. So we did a puppy taste test. Bought two small bags of two different foods, put them down on the floor with little bowls, and saw which she went to first and finished. She chose the instinct raw boost twice in a row. She's been eating this for a month now. Her tummy troubles have cleared up, she doesn't seem to be getting bored of her food, and for the first time she will actually accept her everyday food as a reward during training. The only down side to this food is compared to what she was eating before, it seems to give her some bad breath.

My dog is trying to get used to the food she's been eating puppy but couldn't find so I had to get large breed puppy and they are bigger. I had a bad experience with customer service I found a coupon on chewy.Com and he wouldn't let me use said don't have that coupon only for auto ship I read the coupon to him he said no such thing. Until I said I will cancel my order and tell friends about my experience he figured out a way. If your people don't know about your website they need to be trained better.

  • Former Fromm Customer

I was one of the Fromm customers who received notification their products would no longer be offered through Chewy. Our 8 month old yellow Labrador had been thriving on this and I was very disappointed with the news. I contacted Chewy by phone for some assistance in selecting another comparable brand of food. They were helpful and provided several options. I selected Instinct because the protein to fat ratio is an excellent rating as well as the extra bonus of grain-free. My dog went wild! The freeze dried pieces of real meat are a huge hit and he absolutely can't wait for meal time! Backyard clean-up is great with formed stool and no digestion problems. • Great food

    By on

When I first tried this food for my Rottweiler puppy I was worried she wasn't going to like it. She LOVES it! Poops are solid. The freeze-dried raw keeps her entertained as she'll try to pick them out first then finish the rest of her food.

  • Why is the kibble so large

    By on

I feed nature's variety instinct raw boost adult to my adult dog. I feed the puppy recipe to the pup. She wants to eat his because the adult kibble pieces are smaller then the puppy formula. Why would you make the kibble larger for puppies? It is common sense.

  • Winner with our Labrador

    By on

I like that this kibble is large in size for our growing puppy. The nutritionals are excellent for this large breed puppy food and I trust this brand. Our yellow lab is very happy with it and it works well for his digestive system. Pricey but worth it, I researched foods on line extensively and this is one of the top recommended out there.

  • Changed His Life

    By on

Tried a couple holistic brands with a great reputation and high quality only to be disappointed in the fact Ace would only eat a very small portion of his food to get through the day and his second . After more research, I came Nature's Variety and my boy life has been greater than ever. I highly recommend and version as we have tried several over the last couple of months. Best Ever!!!!!
