The Pure, Real Nutrition of Raw Is In Everything Instinct Does

Instinct's Responsibility as The Raw Brand

LEAD WITH RAW

It all started with Instinct's raw pet food. Since the beginning, they've led with raw because they know the good it can do. They're rewriting the rules of pet food and championing raw nutrition to bring its superior benefits to all that they do.

KEEP IT REAL

Delicious and nutritious pet food should only use real ingredients. For Instinct, this means all-natural, real meat, fruits and vegetables, with nothing artificial.

MAKE IT SIMPLE

Feeding raw should be simple, and it should easily fit into your everyday routine. Instinct believes raw should be accessible to pet parents so every pet can experience the benefits of raw nutrition.

GIVE BACK

Instinct believes in the power of raw nutrition. It only makes sense to share it. Together with Best Friends Animal Society, they're furthering the no-kill movement and their shared mission of transforming and saving the lives of pets.

MAKE IT BETTER

Instinct has never been afraid to challenge the status quo of pet nutrition. They continuously redefine what better means—always pushing their standards of nutrition to raise the bar in pet food.

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

ONE MILLION MEALS

All pets deserve food that's real, nutrient-rich, grain-free and natural. That's why Instinct provides over one million meals annually to the dogs and cats at Best Friends Animal Society adoption centers nationwide. Because what we feed them can make all the difference. Here "we" refers to the pet parent, not Instinct.

About Instinct

Instinct believes deeply that it's up to them to find a way to make it possible for more people to feed their pets the pure, real nutrition that only comes from raw. They know that if they can get the nutrition of raw into more bowls, they'll transform the lives of more pets. And that's really why they do what they do.

I have 3 cats each with different tastes and some of them are picky. All three loved this brand of food. I also bought this food due to one of my cats having G.I. issues with other types of food which helps him out. Also all 3 of my cats seem to throw up when I buy food with grain in it, this doesn't happen with this brand. I highly recommend this brand if you are looking to switch from brands that are solely grain to one that has none. It is also a good way to see if your cats will like dehydrated food, if you are going to make that switch to fully dehydrated food (then this would be a good middle step to getting them used to that or seeing if they even like it/will eat it). My cats love the dehydrated chicken mixed in with the kibble; those are the first things that are gone as soon as they are in the bowl. I highly recommend this brand. Also, Instinct has other flavors of dehydrated protein in their Raw Boost brand to choose from if your cat doesn't like chicken, so be sure to keep that in mind as well. … more

  • Not enough raw pieces

    By on

I liked the ingredients and bought it because my cats really like the freeze dried raw pieces. However the last bag I bought hardly had any raw pieces in it at all! It's like getting a bag of Chex Mix and you really just want to eat the M&M's and you have to dig through the bag to find the five that are in there. Maybe it would be better to buy the raw boosters separately and add them yourself.

  • Bought Instinct to replace Wellness

    By on

We fed our cats Wellness for many years but noticed that they recently changed both the shape and formula of the dry food we were using. Cats wouldn't eat the new formula, so had to search for a healthy alternative that they'd actually eat. As all cat owners know, cats can be very picky when it comes to food, and when you have multiple cats, it can be difficult to find one brand that they will all like. We tried a few different brands and were getting really discouraged until we found Instinct. Both of our cats love Instinct, but only one of them eats the little "raw" bits in the food. But they both love the kibble portion of the food, and I like (most of) the ingredients. • Sensitive girl approves

    By on

I have a vizsla, and her stomach is pretty sensitive with foods, she gets gassy really easily and just doesn't react well to different foods. She handles instinct with raw boost chicken really well. Her stomach isn't as upset, and she looks great! Been using it for over a year now!

  • I think as good as orijen

    By on

I've switched my cat to this food from orijen since chewy is getting rid of orijen. It has good ingredients and my cats fur looks good, also she hasn't gotten sick from it. I mixed it with the old food a little bit at a time and now she eats it all

  • My cats love this!

    By on

I give this to my 1.5 year old cat and 4 month old cat. They both love it! My older cats coat is so shiny and our vet says he’s a very healthy cat. I definitely attribute that to this food. I highly recommend!

  • Texie Loves her Chicken Food

    By on

Texie is two years old, part Siamese, and has been fed grain-free Nature's Instinct chicken flavor cat food. She is doing well physically and just had her two-year checkup. The vet said she is doing well, her teeth are in great condition and Texie got an overall good health checkup. In addition to the hard food, we also give her the smaller 3-oz. can at one-half can two days in a row as a treat. Again, the soft food is also chicken flavor, her favorite!

  • Probably really good

    By on Top 500 Contributor

I bought this as an alternative to Acana, since Chewy won't be able to carry Acana anymore. Well, my little princesses eat the raw pieces but not the kibbles. Sigh!

  • Great for ferrets

    By on Top 250 Contributor

I bought this food after searching for a dry kibble for my ferrets. Ferrets have a very digestive sensitive system and cannot digest fiber; and need kibble that is high in protein and fat. After spending a couple hours comparing protein and fiber percentage, I decided to go with this one. My ferrets just love it. Currently my cats eat friskies but I think I am going to just buy this for the cats as well. Can't recommend for cats yet, but ferrets give it two paws up!

  • Not Good for Ferrets Anymore!

    By on

Since they updated the recipe, they added peas. Peas have been associated with bladder stones in ferrets, therefore this food is no longer recommended for ferrets. The Ultimate Protein version does not have peas, so that is a safer alternative. It's a shame - the ferrets loved this food, especially the raw bites!
