What is the Montmorillonite Clay source and purpose?
Answer by ChewyFeb 18, 2021
Montmorillonite clay is used in some natural pet foods as a natural anti-caking agent. It allows high-quality pet foods to remain free of man-made and chemical agents for this purpose. In addition, it is a natural source of minerals so it may bring with it added health benefits to pets.

Is this item equivalent to using the Instinct frozen raw grain free chicken bites? Are they interchangeable?
Answer by ChewyJan 31, 2021
The Instinct Freeze-Dried Raw Chicken Recipe has Mixed Tocopherols and Rosemary Extract listed under the ingredient list, which the Instinct Frozen Raw Bites Chicken Recipe does not. This recipe also has a higher crude protein and fat content. We always recommend speaking to your veterinarian prior to changing your little one's routine. Your pet's vet is your best ally in managing any existing health conditions and sensitivities.

Great as a healthy treat

I buy this to use as training treats. It is less expensive than buying the ones labeled as treats and My dogs love it!!!!

Decided not to purchase.

The ingredients look wonderful, and I'm highly interested in transitioning my senior Golden Retriever to a fresher diet - I like that it's freeze-dried and not baked, as this reduces the nutrients. However, when I read the feeding instructions and did the math, even with the autoship discount, it would cost $784/month to feed this. I'm sure it's a great food, but I'll keep looking!

Daisy loves this!

Bought this to mix with her regular dry food (that she wasn't too thrilled with). Just put about 1 part this chicken to 3 parts regular dry kibble and she devours it!

Healthy & convenient

When transitioning my 3 chihuahuas (a puppy and two 9 year olds) from home cooked/freshpet, I transitioned to freeze dried raw. That went very well but holy… the price! I found that it’s drastically cheaper to buy frozen instead. I don’t need the ability to travel with their food. That’s basically what I was paying for and will repurchase should we travel. They all 3 love this food! A freeze dried bag (20ish oz) lasts us about 2 weeks, for 3 chihuahuas (5, 7, & 14 pounds- I feed the two small ones 1/3 cup and my bigger one 1/2 cup, each day).

Not for my Dog!!

I have spent the past month researching many "Freeze Dried Raw" dog foods. I have tried 5 different manufactures. Unfortunately, INSTIINCT Freeze-Dried Raw Meals Cage-Free Chicken, is the ONLY one that my 4.5-year old Goldendoodle will not touch. He basically attacks all the others, but is not at all interested in INSTINCT. It sounds like a good product, but it's a no go for my dog. Hopefully I can give it to someone that can use it.

Good stuff

Was feeding our almost toothless 16 year old Jack Rat the K9 Natural Freeze Dried chicken food on top of her Dry BilJac food to get her to eat. We also started giving it to her as a treat being she can’t chew dog treats any more. Apparently the K9 Natural is sitting on a boat somewhere as we couldn’t get it any more. The Instinct brand was a recommended substitute and is it ever awesome! It’s not all crumbly and smashed like the K9 and our little dog loves it. Sticking with it and not going back to K9!

We use it as a topper for his ho-hum kibble and he's never late for mealtimes..

Love Luv Wuv

My dog adores this food. I have never seen her so excited over anything as she gets when I serve this up. She will finish everything off her plate just to let me know she is ready for her afternoon freeze-dried. She is seasoned in age and missing several teeth and this food has been a blessing in its softness and ease to chew.

Not what I wanted

Not what I thought I was purchasing. I wanted the frozen food. Can’t seem to find it. Don’t really have much else to say but you are asking for more words than I need to describe it wasn’t what I wanted.
