This product is packed in an extra thick insulated shipping box, then a bag of dry ice is added to ensure the product remains frozen during transit and arrives frozen to your door.

How many cups per 6 lb bag?
Answer by ChewyAug 06, 2018
Each 3-pound bag contains approximately 11 cups of delicious bites, while the 6-pound bag contains approximately 22 cups.

Why is this not recommended for dogs over 70lbs? Per an answer given to another question. Thanks!
Answer by ChewyApr 18, 2019
This food is suitable for adult dogs over 70-lbs, however it is not suitable for large breed puppies that will grow to be 70 pounds or larger. Due to the growth rate of large breed puppies, this food is not formulated to support their rapid growth.

can I cook the food
Answer by ChewyDec 18, 2019
This food is not intended to be cooked, and is minimally processed to keep in the raw nutrients in the recipe.

My old Yorkie acts young again.

I have a 14 year old Yorkie who was beginning to act her age, and wasn't really happy with her dry dog food. So I started looking for something better. This is it. She eats it like she's ravenous and can't get enough. She appears to have more energy, she's filling out again (she was skinny), and she generally acts younger. We're very happy with this product, and plan to continue this diet indefinitely.

Delivery issues

My dogs love this product, but there have been some issues. Our last two orders came thawed and boy did that smell nasty once we opened the box. The replacement order we got was somehow worse than the original order. Learned that if it doesn’t arrive in 3 days have fun with thawed out raw mush! Better off buying this locally since it will actually be frozen when you get it.

Needs to be frozen

I love this food! I love that Chewy ship it on dry ice and on time for my auto ship . Maybe 1/4 of time package comes with melted dry ice and all you have a meaty brick, but I believe that Chewy is working on this !

Has improved my dogs health

Has improved my dogs health So much. I have always had so much trouble getting him to eat food which he has to eat because he takes insulin with food. His poo has always been runny. Since he’s started eating instinct raw he loves to eat his food and he finally has solid poo. He’s lost weight and has more energy

Great value, and the dogs love it!

I've been a fan of Nature's Variety since before 2000. They focus on meeting nutrient values through whole foods; always a plus. Raw Instinct (by the same company, I believe), does the same, and raw, frozen food is about as good as it gets if you're not going to be making your own. More than $30 for 6 lbs sounds expensive, and it is, compared to dry. But compared to canned, it's actually cheaper per Kcal! That surprised me a little, considering the special packaging they ship it in. Add in the reduced vet bills (healthier teeth, healthier fur, healthier eyes...) and you've got a true bargain. And both of my dogs really love this stuff. According to the picky one, it ranks right up there with Weruva's Paw Lickin' Chicken (I'm still feeding a little canned, for the moment).

Instinct Bits

My local pet stores usually carry the food but recently, they haven't had any for weeks. Chewy has been great and sends the food as soon as I ask. Chewy is a life saver! Thank you for being there for my fur babies.

No go for these pups.

My dogs have previously had the lamb recipe and loved it. That's why I was pretty shocked they completely turned their noses up repeatedly at the bag of beef recipe we ordered. Even when mixed with the lamb, they picked over their bowls and left this. They have had raw beef products before with no issue and they aren't particularly picky eaters either. Unfortunately this bag ended up being wasted money.

Dogs didn't like it.

I was trying to find something healthy and yet a bit less expensive than my dogs' regular food. Unfortunately, they hated this. I even tried to mix it with their regular food. They both left behind little mushy pieces of this and picked through the bowl to eat their regular food. When I tried it alone, they wouldn't go near it. I suppose there are dogs out there who like it, just not mine.

Dog said no

I love the ingredients — my dog doesn’t. I don’t know why he won’t eat this. I’ve tried warming it up and other flavors. He just won’t. He sniffs it then ditches it.
