BEWARE: HUGE pieces of bones

Something has changed with this formula. My cats used to love this food but in my most recent order, EVERY can opened had HUGE pieces of bone that I had to pick out by hand. Furthermore, we switched over to this food for one of our cats that has a severe food allergy to most foods. This food was a great option until this most recent order that caused my sensitive cat to break out in one of the worst food allergy rashes she’s ever had. I KNOW that they changed something with the formula, or we received a faulty product. This is totally unacceptable. Not sure what to do or where to go from here.

Cats love this

One of my cats was recently diagnosed with mild IBD so I started the hunt for a new food for her with a novel protein. We tried duck but she wasn't a fan of that so I decided to try this and she practically inhaled it the first time I gave it to her. It is now the breakfast meal for both of my cats and they will stand screaming at me until I make their breakfast for them and they both lick their bowls clean. I have kept an eye out for what other reviewers claimed were bone fragments but I have yet to see anything like that in the food we've had so far. And I'm glad because I don't want to have to give this food up or the cats may riot.

They love it!!

There are only a few that Nature's Variety Instinct still makes in the USA. The turkey and chicken are made outside the USA now. But the others are made in the USA. This is by far one of my 2 cats favorite. I love the limited ingredient, made in USA, and good ingredients. I also buy the freeze dried raw bags for my cats as well they love them mixed in their food, softened with water, or just as a snack. These small cans consistency is way better than the large cans. Not sure why but they are softer and not dry compared to the big cans of Rabbit. I hate the idea of feeding my cats Rabbit as I LOVE BUNNIES. But they are meat eaters. Lol. A+ Recommend this one.

HORRIBLE!

In response to the question about bone, they said, “ There are no bone fragments, or bone meal in this food”. That is the only reason I purchased it. The photo shows what I pulled out of ONE single 3oz can. Not only are there bone fragments, but I would describe it as an excessive amount. The pieces are hard as a rock and very sharp. If cats have gastrointestinal issues, these pieces can be very dangerous. I will not feed this to my cat. I spent over an hour taking these pieces out by hand and didn’t even get them all! It’s unacceptable to have this horrible of quality control.

Not good for cats with food sensitivities

Our cat has food sensitivities and is on the Royal Canin PR rabbit protein diet. Their wet food version is very expensive and in loaf form but our cat prefers pate so we thought we would try this since it says it's limited ingredient. However, it caused a relapse in his symptoms and he has been ripping out his fur more and more since we started him on this despite only giving him small amounts everyday. Definitely not recommended for cats with food sensitivities.

There is better rabbit flavor cat food than this

We have four cats, only one will touch this and she leaves about half of what was given to her. Consistency from one batch is poor, one will be liquid, the next like playdoh. Texture is grainy, bone chips in every can, odd aroma for a cat food. I have no idea how much of this we have discarded.

New Favorite

I usually buy the regular instinct rabbit to blend a little with homemade raw to give it a flavor boost. I tried this single ingredient and it instantly became the new favorite. All 4 of my boys who eat the blended canned and raw lick their bowls clean. I'm just hoping that the company doesn't change the formula like they have with their other flavors such as duck. That used to be loved and now they won't touch it.

Nope

She eats a few bites and then cry’s constantly till I open the food that she’s been on but is now discontinued. So disappointed, ingredients seem decent but she refuses it. Even when I sprinkle the immune system boost supplement, she loves, she won’t touch it. It’s pricey but I was willing to pay it if she would eat it.

A favorite with my two

Great to find a novel protein like rabbit that both my senior cat and her new kitten brother can have because it's for All Life Stages. I like the ingredient list, the cats love the taste!
