My cats loved the rabbit - the chicken not so much
I started buying Instinct as a replacement for a veterinary diet that was out of stock in the rabbit flavor. The problem cat loved it so I decided to try it for my other cats. They loved the rabbit but did not like the chicken flavor at all. I don't know why other than they are overly spoiled..... They still love the rabbit so that is what I get them now.
Good food but not a hit
I wanted to try something different and am familiar with this company and know they have excellent products. I don't know if it is the texture or smell but Wilson would not even try it the first couple times. He was tired of his previous foods but I mixed a spoonful in with the Instinct but still had to let it set which I do not like doing. I guess he realized he was getting nothing else so ate just enough not to be hungry. Even after more than a week of trying the food it is the same so I won't purchase it again. It is a very good product and if your cat likes pate style and chicken I'd give it a try.
The pride has spoken - nope!
I thought the ingredient list for this food was good and I like their quality. Since all three of these picky eater cats loved all other Instict varietes we've tried, I thought they would love this one since they all seem to like chicken. One sniffs and walks away, one takes a few bites and growls, the other sniffs and tries to bury it. Off to the cat shelter for this order. I'm sure other cats will love it, just not this picky bunch.
My cats seem to really like it
I started feeding my chonkers this a couple of months ago, because the wet food i normally use was not in stock at the time. I rotate between this and Friskies. All three cats like both but seem to prefer Instinct. Not a fan of the whole peas in there, so I pick them out first. All in all, good stuff.
Not a favorite
Compared to Ziwi, my cats didn't want to touch this. They did, but they weren't nearly as excited about mealtime. Won't be purchasing again. Also came across quite a few whole chunks of chickpeas, but already aren't the best grain for cats.
Hannah Says Yum!
I have a fussy eater and this is her absolute favorite canned food. Believe me, I've tried a ton of different wet foods, but Instinct pate chicken is a sure-to-eat dinner for Hannah.
Real food, no additives
I am so grateful for this company, the only cat food I can find without guar gum or gum or chickpeas or wheat, and no byproducts. Pure food. Guar gum can bind the cat hair with the food in the intestines creating a bacteria build up which can lead irritable bowel syndrome. This can lead to your cat vomiting and then the doctors want to do an invasive operation which costs thousands. I had to put my 11 year old cat down because I could not afford the surgery. It also seems city cats who do not get out and get birds and mice and roughage to clean out their intestinal tract, might suffer from this condition more than country or outdoor cats. If you go online you will see guar gum should never be given to cats, yet it is in all the higher end cat foods, the most expensive. And Chewy, the customer service is wonderful.
Won't buy it again
I bought this today for my cat to try since she needs wet food with fiber. I noticed the ingredients listed ground flaxseeds, but when I opened the can I saw a lot of seeds that were whole. I threw it away because I was afraid the seeds, which were sharp on one end, could stick in her throat or elsewhere.
Feeding one kitten and one year male bengals
I have used this food in the past for my older Bengal and he likes it, I only purchased it this time because chewy was out of their regular food. I will go back to their normal food next month if it is back in stock. However, both cats eat it up like their regular food and the ingredients are pretty close to what they normally get with a different brand. You can see a pea or a piece of carrot here and there.
Senior cats approved!
Both my 11 year old girls love this canned food, even my pickier girl, who usually licks only the juice/gravy off canned foods. She still won't eat a full meal of it, but will beg for a snack every night! The peas are definitely odd, but my less picky girl doesn't think anything of it.
