Minimally Processed and Never Cooked

Eating a diet rich in minimally processed foods is just as good for our pets as it is for us. Made with responsibly sourced meat and non-GMO fruits and vegetables, Instinct raw recipes are minimally processed—and never cooked—to keep their nutrients intact. Less processed food allows better digestion and nutrient absorption, so your furry friend gets more nutrients in every bite.

The Raw Difference

Unlike traditional, cooked pet foods, raw pet food retains more important antioxidants, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals that are key to helping your pet live a healthier life. Common changes noticed by pet parents who feed raw include better digestion, improved skin and coat, improved weight, relief from food sensitivities, and increased energy and vitality. Feeding as little as 20% raw as part of your pet’s diet can have a positive impact on your pet’s life.

Questions & Answers

23 Customer Questions

what is the purpose of the clay in this food product?
Answer by ChewyJan 08, 2018
In pet foods, Montmorillonite clay works as a natural anti-caking agent. It facilitates high-quality foods to remain free of harmful chemicals and man-made agents. The clay also acts as a great detoxifier. When ingested, the clay naturally clings to internal toxins and flushes them from the cat’s system through the colon.

How large are the pieces? Our cats have issues with food/treats that require a lot of chewing and if too large, they usually just spit it out.
Answer by ChewyMay 08, 2018
The size of the pieces vary, approximately 1 inch being the largest.

What is the self life of this product?
Answer by ChewyDec 30, 2020
Raw Boost Mixers are good for 24 months after being produced if unopened and for about 30 days after opening if resealed between feedings.

How long does this product remain fresh after opening?
Answer by ChewyApr 04, 2018
This product is shelf stable and when sealed between usage, should stay fresh for 15 months. We recommend storing this product in a cool, dry place.

Increased the amount of food my cat ate

One of my cats is extremely picky, so I bought Raw Boost Mixers to see if that would encourage her to eat more. She still isn't eating enough, but the amount has increased with the boosters. I'm still looking for something will help even more. I do break up the chunks before I mix them with the dry food and they break up easily, which I appreciate.

Cherry on Top

My eight year old cat’s veterinarian suggested that I give her a few of these food toppers since she was a couple pounds underweight and these would assist with some weight gain. In a matter of a couple of months, she gained a couple of pounds and she really enjoys these toppers. Luckily, it was a minor fix that worked!

Too large for “my“ cats

My sibling cats will not eat treats that come in large pieces. I have to break them up. This is particularly annoying with freeze dried treats as they turn into dust. I At this point I’m putting treat powder on top of their wet food.

Took time getting used to

I wanted to introduce this to my 3 cats for Heath benefits. At first they wouldn’t eat it, I think bc the texture was strange to them. After mixing it with bone broth and their usual wet and dry food it was all gobbled up! I crushed 2-3 and sprinkled it to their meals 3X day. Their fav bone broth is from Stella and chewy!

Lovin' in

If my kitties could get any more excited about dinner (I didn't think it was possible), it happened when I started putting these on top. Even my picky eater loves them!

Great topper

When my dog decides she doesn’t like her food, I sprinkle some of this on top of her food and then she will eat it.

upset stomach

I slowly introduced these as treats. I sliced them into 1/3s and gave them a slice or 2. Both of my kitties got diarrhea in short order. I put one pellet on dinner and we had the same result. Now I’m just trying to get rid of them

My cat loves these

I first bought these mixers because I was trying to give my rescued feral cat some additional protein. She loves these! I've tried other flavors, but the chicken is definitely the favorite.

Terrible

I have given these time with my cat but they make him throw up every time. I started by giving him 2-3 since he’s a large 15pound cat. The first week he was fine but after this he started throwing up so I stopped giving them these mixers. I tried again a month later and he would throw up again. Very disappointed.
