I’m wondering why the montmorillonite clay is added to this company’s wet foods? Is there a purported health benefit or is it to absorb moisture so the product will retain its texture?

Cats love it!

This is pâte, but it's looser than a typical pate. Our cats go crazy for it and we've added it into their rotation. Well worth the price for a quality wet cat food. Highly recommend.

Pros and cons

So, I have been trying to get all my rescue cats switched over to wet food - and high quality wet food. I have 10 cats (don't worry - not hoarding- they all go to the vet at least once a year and we have a big house they run) and I have had different levels of success with this food. I have some stubborn babies that really only want dry (5). Three of those will eat a limited amount of this - if I add warm water. Two won't eat it at all. Then I have 5 that LOVE food - wet, dry - it doesn't matter. Three of those don't like this food at all and will go hungry instead of eating. So - although I like the ingredients- I wouldn't call it a total success. I'm still looking for a high protein- limited junk wet food to win over the ones who gave this a thumbs down.

Great for Loki's skin issues!

Our Loki cat (5 yr old orange tabby) LOVES this food! It has helped his skin and coat AND no more dermatitis! He particularly loves this high protein chicken, but also loves the salmon, venison & rabbit. Highly recommend. This is as close as you can get to making it fresh yourself. Well worth the price!

Instinct-ly Delicious

My kittehs don't really like the Pate' texture for cat foods, it is usually the chunks, morsels, and maybe a flake, but " Pate' ! No way " when they get it. EXCEPT this Instinct Chicken variety. They dig it! I wonder because it is grain-free? I dunno. I asked Empress LuluBelle the Benevolent, but she would just look at me and daintily lick her chops. Mayor Jake is just too busy NOM-NOM-NOM ing away to answer. Mayor Jake is all about the NOMination (heehee). They like it, I like that they like it. Every kitteh wins

Cats Won’t Eat It

My cats love the dry version of this food. They need to lose weight, so the doctor suggested the wet food. They don’t touch it, and they’re not picky cats either.

Added Guar Gum. Very Disappointed

I'm so disappointed. They recently added guar gum to ALL their wet food... even the limited ingredient ones! Now I have to look for a new food again.

My cats didn't like it

There is not really much to say. They are so picky. Everytime I gave it to them, they walked away. The feral cats around here loved it.

New Formula Is A Backwards Slide

I recently transitioned my cat to this food away from her dry Hills CD prescription food as she was recently diagnosed with diabetes. She was doing great with it, but when the new order came in, it was a new formula with adjusted ingredients, different consistency, and a smell that resembled a can of tuna more than what this food used to emit. She took to the food after cautiously investigating it but had immediate digestive issues. I had to run to a local store that still stocked the old formula so I could use that to transition to another brand. It's a shame as the quality has clearly gone down hill. Attached is a picture of the old formula on the left, and the new one on the right. A huge difference.
