Eliminates the tissue stage of heartworm larvae and the adult stage of hookworm (Ancylostoma caninum), roundworms (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina) and whipworm (Trichuris vulpis) infestations when administered orally according to the recommended dosage schedule. The anthelmintic activity of milbemycin oxime is believed to be a result of interference with invertebrate neurotransmission.
This caused acute behavior change in my Aussie within 24 hours.
Cat spit it out. I discovered this fact after vacuuming up the pill pieces. The next month I dissolved the pill in tuna. Hopefully the medication still works in a dissolved state.
Fast, perfect service! Love this Company! They care!
I can always depend on a Chewy representative to be courteous and efficient. Much appreciated!
This was always my go to heartworm preventative because it also claimed to remove and control hookworm, roundworm, tapeworm and whipworm. I am religious about giving this to my dog every month and for over 20 years we have never had a dog with worms of any kind. Now, my dog has been diagnosed with hookworm and roundworm! He's an indoor dog. Has limited access to the backyard (he prefers inside) and goes for walks on leash on a walking path through our neighborhood 2-3 times a day. Yes, even on leash he occasionally finds 'snacks' of rabbit poo which we are quick to get him off of, but again after 20+ years we have not had a problem. We are now going through our 2 rounds of Panacur treatment for both of our dogs (just in case). I am now in search of a better product. Very dissatisfied and we just recently bought 2 refills.
I give this to my two Aussies. My girl is normal/normal for the MDR1 mutation, and my boy is mutant/mutant. Both seem to tolerate it well.
This product did not seem to do more than reduce my cats fleas for a minute. We washed and sprayed all bedding, etc and really gave our best effort to help eliminate the fleas. Nope!
My vet stopped carrying this medicine and tried to sell me something new to my pet and much more expensive. This product has always worked for my 15 year old dog without noticeable side effects. I'll stick to what works and not experiment with my dog's health. Thanks for continuing to offer this product
Chewy is the only place I have found where I can purchase Interceptor. I use this for my dog because it has no ivermectin in it. Dogs that are collie breads, border collies, shepherds etc. should not have ivermectin because it can cause issues in their brains.
Our vets recommended this for our aussies, due to MDR-1 factor in this breed.
