How is this made for short snouted dogs since the measurements for both short and long snouted are exactly the same?
Answer by ChewySep 10, 2019
The dimensions of both bowls are the same, but the raised areas in the center of the short snouted styles are much shorter than those of the long snouted variety.

Could these work for cats? My cats tend to gobble their food down and then they throw up whole un chewed kernels because they ate too fast.
Answer by ChewyMay 29, 2019
Although this product is intended for dogs, we've had positive feedback that it's worked well with cats.

Not great for short snouts

I purchased this bowl with high hopes that my 10lb pug-mix would be able to use this for feeding time. I have lots of other bowls from Outward Hound and other brands that are sometimes difficult for her to use. This bowl is just as difficult, if not more, than the other slow feed bowls I have. The quality is good and my other dog gets good use out of it but I specifically bought the bowl with my pug-mix in mind. Wouldn't recommend for a short-snouted dog but as a regular slow feeder this works fine.

Slow food bowl

My Jasper really needed this bowl it is a great bowl only needs the slipping to be alittle better. But all in all does the trick. Thank you

still too small

I have a larger version of this for my King Shepherd. I figured a 4 cup version would be big enough for my new GSD puppy. Sadly, it is not. I did compare stated dimensions to the bowl I was using but tat was not actually comparable because of the "slow feed" obstructions. If my old men Yorkie or Shiba Inu were still alive, it would be perfect for them but not for a 12week old GSD puppy.

Too small for great dane's snout

My great dane has a really hard time with this bowl. His snout is so big he has a hard time getting the food out. He ends up flipping the bowl over w his paws & I have to stand there w him so he doesn't do this. Plus the bowl slides everywhere. Not a nonskid bowl.

Caution for chewers

My 9 month old puppy was able to chew off the bottom rim of the bowl and swallow it. She has been vomiting up the pieces but this is still quite scary. It works great as a slow feeder bowl, but not safe for chewers.

Not for short snouted dogs

We bought this for my pug because it specifically says for short snouted dogs. It is 1.5 inches deep and my dog took forever trying to eat.

Chewing the plastic

After the first meal in the bowl the plastic speed bumps showed signs of being chewed by our 15 pound dog. Not durable.

Not as advertised

I ordered a 4 cup bowl but the one I received barely holds 2 cups. I sent an email questioning it and so far no help. Dissapointing.

No more gobbling

This bowl has done wonders to help my little dog slow down her food intake!
