A Good Idea, But...
We had to send it back. The box is small (measurements sounded OK, but our Bianca clearly felt cramped. The snap-on walls are effective, so that was a plus. The biggest drawback, however, is that the bottom surface is ridged, not smooth. Cleaning was a pain. We might try another brand/style, but for now we are back to our low-sided larger box. Five stars to Chewy for lovely response to our request for a return!!!
Pretty Decent
I love the tall sides. I wish the box was bigger though, it's a tight fit for my cat who is a bit larger than most. I think a redesign of the bottom would be helpful as well. it isn't completely flat , there are groves which doesn't make sense since you are having to scrape the bottom as you are scooping. can't get a complete scrape down there due to the groves. Hope that makes sense.
IRIS Open Top Litter Box works well
Loved this for my cats who "aim too high" at times and overshoot the litter box. Although I also have a hooded box, this one provides a less confining bathroom area. Ordered a second one however the plastic Scatter Shield was cracked and chipped off in the front when removed from the packaging.
This box really helps!
Like many, I have cats that seem to think they are digging down to China and must throw everything out of the box to do it. These really help. I noticed immediately a difference on my floors. I originally ordered a couple to see how they work. I promptly ordered several more (I have a lot of cats) and was so glad I did. It saves my carpet, my floor, and in the long run money as there is less sand dumped out of the box. (Just be sure you snap the top securely to the pan.)
So far so good
Got these to reduce the spread of litter. Kitties were a little unsure at first, but curiosity got the better of them and now they don't pay the walls any attention. It has definitely helped with the spread of litter around the area. I got the mats to go with the boxes and that also has helped a lot.
Trading one issue for another
My cat has a tendency to 'overshoot' the top of the litter pan so I would put pee pads on the floor and walls surrounding it. I've tried several other larger pans, this one solved that issue. Only bad thing is that it has squared corners so when she pees there, it's hard to scoop.
Open top litter box
I have one of my seven cats that is hesitant to use the litter box. This litter box fit perfectly in her hiding place to do her business and does not let litter scatter everywhere. She loves feeling safe and I love the clean area.
Lid falls off
The lid does not stay locked down. Every time my cat exits the box, the lid gets knocked off. I would only recommend this for a very small cat (less than 7 pounds), Will be returning.
Scooper Inadequate
Excelent product, well designed. The 'free scooper' is not worth anything, from our experience, as the holes are too large to scoop litter effectively. The actual litter pan is excellent!
Great for us
Works great for us. We have a small adult female. The lid just sits on top. It does not snap into place. The bottom is beveled, but I usually dump it, then spray it out with a high pressure garden hose, and Dawn detergent. I have no issues cleaning it. It may not work for multiple cats, or larger cats, but it works for us.
