Keep your cat's litter in the box and off your floor with this open top litter box made by IRIS. This box has extra-tall walls on three sides to help keep your cat's litter and spray inside, where it belongs, while keeping dirt out. Plus, the open-top container gives your kitty quick and easy access, while the deep pan design gives your cat a semi-private space to do his business. Talk about a dream pan! The high-polished interior surface makes the litter box easy for you to clean, too—making a dirty task clean again. Recessed bottoms and molded-in feet keep the IRIS cat litter box in place and the molded-in rims around the pan add strength and stability to the litter box tray. And it's made in the USA with stuff you can trust!
Three sided shield keeps litter and spray inside the box.
Prevents spills by keeping the dirty business inside.
Creates a semi-private space for your kitty to go potty.
The high sides of this litter box are nice, but that’s about the only nice thing about it. The top piece comes off too easily, and the crack between the pieces is at just the wrong height so it catches and hold the urine from my 2 male cats. It doesn’t leak out, but it’s more difficult to clean. The front corners of the pan have ridges that collect clay clumps and are very difficult to scrape clean with a regular litter scoop. It’s also a fairly small litter box overall. All in all, this litter box is more trouble than it’s worth. It might be fine for a small female cat, but it’s not working for this household.

Our stray kitty Roxie loved her new litter box. She used it a lot and never wanted to go outside. She came to our house one day emaciated and so thirsty. We fed her and Gabe her water immediately. She never left. We only had her a few months but we loved her very much. Yesterday, she used her litter box for the last time,,,,the vet told us it was time for Roxie to cross the rainbow Bridge. She was very sick and had multiple problems by this time. So with tears flowing from our eyes we said good bye. I cry as I write this. She was a lovely lady and we will miss her terribly. Thank for providing Trixie some comfort in her last days.
Wait! Thus us for an adult?

I ordered this box with the scoop. The picture they show you is misleading. I have 3 adult cats almost 3 years old and they don't fit. Its entirely too small for their comfort.

IRIS Open Shielded Top Litter Box

I love this concept of this litter box. It seems to keep the litter more in the litter box, which is great & is very easy to scoop from. The only thing that I would change about it is in the very front - it is NOT flat, so if your cat likes to do their urination @ the front of the litter box like mine does, then it takes more than one scoop to get it out. All in all = this is a sturdy & well made litter box with top shield that has smooth edges and stays connected to the box very well.
Great litter box with shield

It’s perfect for my new little kittens. They were scattering litter all over my wood floor but now this keeps the litter in the box except fir the smallest amount left on their paws!
Good for small/medium cats

I bought two of these when we moved into a new (OLD house but new to us) house with small bathrooms and the previous litterboxes wouldn't reasonably fit. These boxes have a smaller footprint, which I needed. I was a bit disappointed that there are some grooves/folds in the pan bottom that make the clumps break up when scooping. This isn't a dealbreaker and the cats readily use the boxes, and they fit in my small bathrooms.
Open Box Has Pluses And Minuses

So we’ve used closed boxes for years. In fact I bought a new dome shaped box recently to replace a pretty well worn box and now replaced the dome with this IRIS box. The cat pee was so difficult to scrap off the plastic on the domes I had to replace them. Why am I telling you this? Because the positive on the IRIS box is how easy the pee is removed from the plastic sides. The negative is how poorly the shield is constructed. It doesn’t snap in well and the box is also on the small side. In truth I will replace this box in my next order for a more stable shield box. My cats do love the open style and are favoring this box over 3 others they have, all enclosed styles except IRIS. It’s a very inexpensiveSo we’ve used closed boxes for years. It’s a very inexpensive box to test out on your cats for preference and the plastic is not porous like the domes. Good for kittens but I have adults. The purpose of the high sides and enclosed boxes is to keep over spray pee in the box and off walls and flooring. This box needs some redesigning to give me confidence the shield won’t get knocked off.… more
Top won’t stay snapped in place

The only issue I have is the top part doesn’t stay snapped in place.

We have a male kitten (who my kids name "Cute cutes") that stands when he pees, he starts off squatting and then slowly returns to standing position when he is stilling peeing. I realized he was peeing standing up when I saw where it was hitting the back of the enclosure we have for the litter box. I bought this and it has made a huge difference! No more pee smell, and I can easily spray and clean up any dried pee on the top shield.
