Please remember to supervise your furry friend while using the playpen. This playpen is suitable for canine companions, feline friends, rabbits and other pets who weigh over 5 lbs.
I love this for my 10lb Shihtzu but it is very light weight and he can move it around as he jumps and plays. If I had purchased this for my 20lb pup I would return it bcz it is not sturdy enough for heavier dogs. Perfect for small toy puppies I love it for that!
It took THREE orders to finally get the CORRECT model and one with all the HARDWARE and unbroken RODS that hold the panels together. Just to let you know I was trying to buy the "IRIS 4-Panel Exercise Pen with Door, 24-inch" (see pictured but in white). Original order placed on 3/18. First box came with SIX BROKEN panels that have plastic curved, comb-like fastener clips. Broken plastic pieces of the clips fell out of the box. Taken out of the box, several more of the panels had clips that were smashed and fell off. Several problems: in addition to the unusable, broken panels, Chewy sent the WRONG model which has a dial door *knob* I didn't want and the comb-like clips rather than a metal pin/rod you place to hold the corners together. Replacement Order #1-The correct 4-panel pen arrived but this time without the HARDWARE to attach the door or the metal RODS/PINS to hold the panels together. Replacement Order #2 - Finally got the correct replacement with the necessary hardware on 3/25. I was upset that not only did the first order come broken but that it was the wrong model. I was more upset when the first replacement came without the required hardware needed to set the darned thing up. FYI, yes, I'm glad Chewy got me the pen I wanted...finally. Here's the basic problem: if you look at the photos of the 4-panel pen, it is fundamentally differrent from the 6-panel pen I didn't want or order. Chewy does not -- and should -- use MODEL/PRODUCT or SKU NUMBERS on their products. I discovered the model numbers on the outside of the shipping boxes. If you're interested, the 4-PANEL with hinged door is CI-604 (presumably the '"4" stands for 4 panels). Importantly, the panels are very easily held together by a rod you slide through the corners, greatly facilitating disassembly. The 6-panel Model Number is CI-606-2 which has a door knob you turn to open/close and has the very flimsy comb teeth on the panel's corners. That design also makes it extremely difficult to disassemble -- recall those plastic backbones that are on some notebooks? -- and obviously easy to break off. When calling Chewy's customer service, I expressed my bewilderment that not only was I given an incorrect (broken) model, but that the first replacement was missing the hardware to put the thing together. I very specially requested that there be an actual inspection that I'm being shipped a usable and unbroken product! I wanted this pen to ensure it would work well in both our house and when we travel by car to visit our grand-kids over Easter. It was disappointing to have to wait nearly 2 weeks to get the right pen. Now I'm stuck with 2 large boxes of unusable pens despite Chewy's suggestion I donate them to someplace for repair/repurpose. OK, maybe someplace can use them after I search around lookiing for someone to take them.
I needed an attractive ex-pen for our bunny. This is very cute. the panels are a breeze to assemble. The screws were hard to get in without stripping them for the hinge assembly. I would recommend laying the door panel flat on the ground and attaching the door that way
We actually got two of them, plus the expansion kit with 2 sections. One for family room, one for bedroom for sleeping. Very sturdy considering the light weight and plastic. Easy to assemble. Far less ugly that many of these, and can easily see our puppy while see's inside. Door and latch works great, and the screw-downs for the latch are very important for our smart puppy who quickly learned how to bang against the door to get out - the screw-down for latch prevents this. Super easy to move when needed.
We needed a relatively small pen for our 7 pound dog. This is exactly what we were looking for and was easy to put together.
We got this corral to contain a new ShihTzu puppy in our kitchen area and use it for her sleep quarters at present. It is well made with an opening gate and easy to assemble. You can buy additional sides to enlarge for outdoor use.
I have multiple dogs and need to separate them at feeding time so this seemed like a good solution on Chewy.com and indeed it is. My Cavaliers like it and go into it when it is not being used for feeding. The door is nice because you don't have to lift dogs in and out. It does not fold flat without being dismantled, which is not an easy task. It was not easy to figure out how to put it together. If folding flat is a key need for you, this pen is not going to work. It is extremely light so it has no structural integrity if a dog pushes on it. It is easily moved around and the shape deforms easily and it might even be pushed over under stress. I would not use it for containment in a multiple dog household if I were not present to supervise. The pros: light, easy to manage, dogs like it The cons: doesn't fold flat, hard to put together, so light that even small dogs can push it around. Not really suitable for strong, active dogs, or in a multi-dog household, without supervision.
This pen is the perfect size and well made for small to mediums size. You can add panels to make larger.
Very easy to assemble, it comes with a cute door with latches to keep locked if needed; not too heavy.
I purchased the IRIS 4-Panel Playpen with door as a gift for a family with a new puppy. I own a pen myself and it's been very useful and still like new after two small dogs and 11 years. The pen arrived at the appointed time and required the gate latch to be installed. (Mine did not.) The screw holes for the gate latch did not line up and it required making an adjustments. Not sure if quality control is an issue at the manufacturer's site. My family chose to live with the rigged playpen.
