Feline Dermatophytosis, also known as Ringworm, is a highly contagious, superficial fungal disease of the hair, skin and nails. Although Ringworm can be relatively easy to diagnose, resolution of the infection can take several months. The most effective treatments usually involve a combination of systemic, topical and environmental approaches. Treating cats can generally be challenging due to usual difficulties in bathing and administering pills, as well as their tendency to lick off topical products.
It’s important to remember that you can play an important role in the effectiveness of your cat’s recovery:
Be careful with this medicine. One does killed my cat. He was on antibotics at the time and may of had a reaction to eith the Itrafungol or it with the antibiotics.
My kitten is on her third week of this treatment and but she still lots of bare areas!
This medication is thick & very sticky. It tastes very sweet which does NOT help with getting our cat to swallow it. Cats after all don’t like anything with a sweet taste. But that’s not the worst part. The dose requires such a large amount that it takes 2 syringes full so I have to stop and reload the syringe to get the full does drawn up. It is so difficult to get our cat to swallow it and he lets some of it drip out of his mouth throughout the administering of this medicine so it’s hard to know if he’s getting the right dose. He has to be on this medicine for at least a year according to his Vet so I’m pretty bummed about the prospect of going through this messy, unpleasant process every night with him. But he has a fungal infection (Histoplasmosis) that is potentially fatal if it isn’t treated so I have to do this for him. This infection has already caused him to go blind so before anything else happens I’m hoping this medicine will be worth all this unpleasant and difficult struggling.
One of my cat’s got ringworm, which spread to my other all strictly inside kitty’s, I tried several different thing’s which did nothing, then I started w/the Itrafungal after their 1st week started to see clearing, thank god. This med 100% needs to be given within an hr after eating, extremely important your cat has food in stomach, it’s a on 7 day’s then off 7 day’s regimen after the 2nd 7days all cat’s are 99 percent healed, some completely, it does take time for scabbing to go away, but the ringworm is no longer active. This saved my Kitty’s. Thank you Itrafungal & Chewy. Last thing it is a bit pricey but worth it cause it 100% WORKS.
This worked wonderful on my cat. She had a fungus infection on her head neck and ears. It is clearing up nicely. Love Chewy they get everything you order for your pets to you right away. So glad I found them.
I was fighting ringworm on my Mainecoon kittens with a shampoo and lime solution unsuccessful. I gave Itrafungol to them once a day, during 3 days only and worked. The flavor is good, very sweet but it’s ok. The only problem to get this medicine needs a vet prescription.
Very happy with the results of this product. Our kitty is finally seeing relief for her ear issue. We have our kitty back!
Both my husband and I have had companion animals all our lives (we r in our 60s). Plus, over a decade in wildlife rescue. You name it - we have medicated it. This drug tastes absolutely awful and it is almost impossible for us to dose our adult cats. For every review that says they have no problem administering it - the operative word in their review will be KITTEN. Stronger, smarter adults become terrified at being restrained while this vile medicine is administered. IT IS NOT EASY TO ADMINISTER TO AN ADULT CAT. We've used this product for one week, and terrorized our cats. I'm calling the vet tomorrow to request another medication.
This product is working great on my kitten. He started growing hair back just after 1 week of use. He will continue treatment under the supervision of his veterinarian.
Another review said this liquid was bitter and difficult to give and this is not true. We have treated several kittens and not had any issues at all. It’s possible the cat they have just didn’t like the flavor by some fluke, but we deal with kittens all of the time and have definitely given bad tasting medicine and this is not one of them. We are very happy with this product! A recommendation is to just put the medicine toward the back of the throat so they don’t taste it as much if you’re having this issue. We have not had any issues at all with the flavor.
