Description

JurassiPet JurassiCal Reptile & Amphibian Dry Calcium Supplement is a concentrated, phosphorus-free source of calcium for reptiles and amphibians. Adding calcium to your pet’s diet can combat metabolic bone disease in reptiles and amphibians, as well as shell deformities and soft shells in turtles and tortoises. JurassiCal is vitamin D3 free, as excessive amounts can be toxic and may lead to hypercalcemia. It contains no phosphorus, to keep your pet’s phosphorous levels balanced.

Key Benefits
  • Concentrated (400,000 ppm) dry source of calcium for reptiles and amphibians
  • Herbivorous and carnivorous diets are frequently calcium deficient and phosphorus rich
  • Ideally the dietary calcium to phosphorus (Ca:P) ratio should be no less than 1.2:1 and is ideally maintained from 2:1 up to 8:1 (depending on the species)
  • Lack of calcium in the diet can lead to metabolic bone disease and shell deformities and soft shells in turtles and tortoises
  • No phosphorus or vitamin-D3, to keep levels balanced and excessive amounts can be toxic and may lead to hypercalcemia
Precautions

Reptile and amphibian use only. Keep out of reach of children.

Feeding Instructions
  • BEGINNER: Lightly dust food before serving. Adheres best if food is already slightly moist.

  • ADVANCED: Carnivores: Dust mammals and insects with 1/3 teaspoon for every 1/3 oz of food. Dust meat and gut loaded insects with 1/8 teaspoon for every 1/3 oz of food. Herbivores: Dust vegetables and fruits with 1/3 teaspoon for every about 4 of food. Use 2 - 4 times more for turtles and tortoises and to increase calcium deposition in breeding or gravid animals.

  • ADVICE: The following types of food interfere with calcium adsorption and should be avoided: phytates (soy), oxalates (spinach) and dog or cat foods.

    GREAT PRICE!

    By on Top 25 Contributor

It's rather simple, it is calcium powder in a good size container. I have 4 leopard geckos that require to have calcium in a shallow dish at all times. This is a great price, and it serves it's purpose. It does NOT contain D3 vitamin, which you should be aware of . It is unknown if leopard geckos in particular can overdose, so I only let them have complete access to the plain calcium; however like the back of the bottle says , reptiles need some sort of D3 to senthisize the calcium ...that is why I dust their mealworms with a separate calcium D3 vitamin once a week.
