Description

JurassiPet JurassiCal Reptile & Amphibian Dry Calcium Supplement is a concentrated, phosphorus-free source of calcium for reptiles and amphibians. Adding calcium to your pet’s diet can combat metabolic bone disease in reptiles and amphibians, as well as shell deformities and soft shells in turtles and tortoises. JurassiCal is vitamin D3 free, as excessive amounts can be toxic and may lead to hypercalcemia. It contains no phosphorus, to keep your pet’s phosphorous levels balanced.

Key Benefits
  • Liquid supplement with a concentrated formula (160,000 ppm) of calcium
  • Herbivorous and carnivorous diets are frequently calcium deficient and phosphorus rich
  • Ideally the dietary calcium to phosphorus (Ca:P) ratio should be no less than 1.2:1 and is ideally maintained from 2:1 up to 8:1 (depending on the species)
  • Lack of calcium in the diet can lead to metabolic bone disease and shell deformities and soft shells in turtles and tortoises
  • No phosphorus or vitamin-D3, to keep levels balanced and excessive amounts can be toxic and may lead to hypercalcemia
Precautions

Reptile and amphibian use only. Keep out of reach of children.

Feeding Instructions

BEGINNER: Lightly spray food before serving. ADVANCED: Carnivores: Spray mammals and insects with 20 squirts (0.25ml) for every 1g (1/32 oz) of food. Spray b1less meat and gut loaded insects with 8 squirts for every 1g of food. Herbivores: Spray vegetables and fruits with 1 squirt for every 2g of food. Use 2 - 4 times more for turtles and tortoises and to increase calcium deposition in breeding or gravid animals. EXPERT: Carnivores or Herbivores: Determine phosphorus and calcium content of the food and add according to desired Ca:P ratio. To increase calcium content by 100 mg, use 50 squirts (0.625ml (1/8 teaspoon.)) of JurassiCal™ Liquid. For larger amounts it may be easier to measure directly; 5ml (1 teaspoon) adds 800 mg calcium. For example, if offering food that contains 410 mg of phosphorus and 20 mg of calcium and the desired Ca:P ratio is 2:1, you would need to add 800 mg calcium (5ml (1 teaspoon) of JurassiCal™ Liquid. ADVICE: The following types of food impair with calcium absorption and should be avoided: phytates (soy), oxalates (spinach) and high fat dog or cat acidified foods.

FAQ

What source is JurassiCal derived from?

The source is limestone (naturally mined).

JurassiCal™ is promoted as not having any phosphorus added to it, whereas other products are a 2:1 calcium to phosphorus ratio. Won't those help me maintain the proper ratios better?

No, because herbivorous and carnivorous diets are frequently calcium deficient and phosphorus rich. If you add a calcium supplement that has phosphorus in it to a phosphorus rich food source, like crickets, for instance, you raise calcium, but raise phosphorus at the same time. Thus, you have barely improved the ratio at all.

I thought this would be a better solution to powder calcium but for some reason my lizards won't eat the crickets after I spray them. Idk if it's just my Anoles or what
