We have a 9 month old Shih Tzu puppy who from the time we got him until now has always been a fast eater. I can sit his bowl down for him to eat, walk into the other room to feed our kitten, come back and he is done. All of this happens in 60 seconds or less. I didn't like how fast he ate and was looking for some type of control bowl to help him slow down. I looked in the stores first and never came across anything I like, plus the prices were ridiculous. I came across the bowl on Chewy, saw the price and figured I would take a chance. The first night we used this bowl it took him 10 mins to eat his food, a MAJOR improvement from what we were use to. I mix wet and dry together and try to pack it down within the grooves. It has really slowed him down and like I said it takes him about 10 mins now to eat all of his food. For anyone that is looking for a cheap control bowl this is the bowl to purchase. It still skids just a little but, but I don't even mind that, for the results that I have gotten I am sold on this bowl and will advise any others to buy it! … more

  • Big Dog Dish

We have a Great Pyr who inhales food.. He is a rescue and is learning the workings of his new home with 3 other dogs. I add HOT water to the dry food and let it sit for 10 min., give him his am treat then let him eat. Now it takes about 2 minutes for his am meal instead of 10 sec. The dish gives him time to move the wet food from one side to the other. great buy.

  • Didn't slow him down..

    By on

This is a great dish to stop a dog that inhales their food instead of chewing. But I bought this thinking I could slow one of my dogs eating down so he would finish the same time as the other 2..didn't work still is first one done and stares at other 2 in hopes they will let him finish their dinner for them lol I will look into finding a more puzzled design dish!

  • helped slow my dog down

    By on

It definitely helped slow my dog down. She pretty much used to inhale her food. I have noticed it is harder for her to reach the food once it gets low. She knocks it over to get to the last pieces which is fine. Sometimes she is stubborn about eating now, because she doesn't like the bowl. She likes to chew the bottom of it.

  • Great for Labs with Fast Eating Habits

    By on

I bought this for our black lab mix who usually takes no time at all to wolf down an entire bowl of food. This slow feed dog bowl has significantly slowed her eating rates and I can hear actual chewing instead of gulping. I was hoping to see a slight decrease in appetite due to slower consumption rates but maybe it will take a bit more time to take effect. Great product and I am very satisfied with this purchase.

  • WORKS GREAT

I had to some how slow down my not quite 2 year old Boxer from hoofing her food down so fast that she would choke on it and sometimes throw up. The bowl I got from Chewy is fabulous. It has slowed her down and even helped her sister slow down too. Just by watching her. I would definitely recommend this bowl. It also was almost half the price of any of the other places I checked too. It was a win win. Love CHEWY . Com

  • Gets the Job Done

I have had my 7 month old Pitt Bull since she was 6 weeks old. I noticed she always woofed her food down like it was her last meal. I did some research and read about slow feeder bowls and now she has to take her time getting the food out the bowl which allows her to eat slower. I am satisfied with the bowl and was elated with the price!

  • Good solution for a "gulper"

    By on

Our Shih Tzu has been a gulper since birth. We tried everything but he could devour his meals in seconds. After setting down the slow feed bowl for the first time, we immediately saw a HUGE difference in his eating pattern. He seems to actually enjoy getting the food out of the bowl and has calmed down considerably during meal times. There is still a bit of skidding despite the advertisement to the contrary. We are non the less thrilled with the quick results of the bowl.

  • Perfect bowl for the perfect price

    By on

I came across this bowl researching options for a slow feeder for my Brittany. I decided for the great price, I would give it a try. I am so glad I did! It helps him eat at a much better pace. He has to actually work a bit to get his food. I would recommend this bowl to anyone considering it.

  • Not good for Boston terrier

    By on

Our recently rescued Boston terrier eats too fast and usually vomits it back up. We added balls to his bowl so he has to work around them as he eats but the bowl and balls get dirty quickly that way. The bowl is a great idea but it's so deep that he can hardly reach the food. He has a very short flat nose unlike other dogs that can stick there nose in and reach the bottom. Not upset about the purchase it was worth trying for 3.99 but they should consider dogs with short noses.
