Serves it's purpose well
We got this product so we could give our dogs a break when we cycle long distances, when we go to the city and have to take public transport and for tricky sections of hiking. So far we've used it biking on the road and on a ferry. The packs work exactly as described, the little pouch on this one is super helpful to keep necessities in and when the dogs are walking the backpack is easy to carry still. One big complaint is it really needs a waist strap, I know they put one on the bigger packs, but this one really needs it and the shoulder straps fit me fine but were a bit tight for my husband once he cinched the pack up to where it needed to be. This pack certainly made it easier to carry them when we needed to, but don't be fooled, you will definitely feel the weight. We have a 25lb dog (med pack) and a 40lb dog (large pack) and bought them each a pack. Overall I would recommend with the warning that this particular model of their packs is not likely intended for prolonged use, so if you plan to have to carry your dog for extended periods you may want to go up the the bigger packs that have more padding and the waist strap.
First bike ride
Thank you Chewy & K9! Dog fit perfectly in carrier and seemed happy and comfortable! Bike ride was about six miles on a paved rode with lots of shade. We didn’t want to go too far on the first ride and plan to use this on lots of short future trips.
Too small for me
The size L fits my 25lb bully/chihuahua mix pretty well. Unfortunately I’m a fairly thick 235lb weightlifter, and the bag straps cut into my outer back when tightened down properly. If I make them loose enough to fit me, my dog is not secure and hangs off of my back. The bag is great, IF you’re a smaller build person. Unfortunately I cannot use it.
Amazing quality!
This bag is amazing! It went beyond my expectations and has enough storage to put his water bottle and potty bags. He is alittle bigger so I do need to get a bigger size though.
Well made but need more adjustability
K9 Sport Sack knows what they're doing. All of their bags are very well made and help keep the dog secured. My one complaint with the larger sizes is that they are measured primarily by length and the straps that hold the dog around their back don't adjust down sufficiently for my dog at the moment. Since my puppy is still growing I also have him using a booster (something the manufacturer recommends) but putting him on a booster makes it so the straps don't line up in the right place for lumbar support for the puppy. I figure that once he finishes growing that will resolve itself but if your fully grown dog is on the short end of a range I'd size down instead of counting on a booster to fill in the gap. One of my favorite features of this bag over the smaller options is the sternum strap which helps better distribute the weight of the dog and keeps the dog secure on your back.
Helping us train
We are training for a week of hiking on the Camino de Santiago in Spain. Our recent adoption of a 10 pound pomski (4 months) has made hiking any distance more challenging. He gets tired after 1-2 miles. We bought this pack so that he can rest and still enjoy the hike. We have only used it twice but both times have gone great. He walks till he's tired and then gets in his pack. I give him frequent treats and cuddles while he rides on my husband's back.
Nice features, but still a work in progress
I really enjoy this bag, though the small is a bit large for my pup and I have to keep a hand towel folded up in the bottom (she also refuses to sit how the instructions recommend, but she's a rebel at heart and her way allows her to kick me when she wants out). Pro tip... watch the video and be patient. Week 1 I wanted to cry I was struggling so bad, but then I realized there was an updated video and I was missing the key step of closing the collar strap before doing anything else. I have a super chill cat that let me stuff him in, and that helped give me the confidence to get my squirmy pup in and out on the trail. As others have said, a hip belt would be a nice addition (but it looks like the new model has one!), and if you put much weight in the pouch you crush your pup and also make it pull back a little more on the bag (I've started clipping my pouch to the collar strap as well and that helps a little). Good for light snacks, a couple of bottles of water (if it's a cooler day be conscientious of their temperature, I chilled my poor pup one day with some cold bottles of water in the side pockets on a cool fall day). I picked up a waist pack for water that I can wear with this bag for slightly longer strolls. It's a good tool to have in your arsenal, but test it on shorter walks first to see how they do. Our pup is an 8 pound chi and she appreciates the lift! I also have an Alfie, but this is great because it distributes the weight to both shoulders.
Great way for little legs to enjoy a hike!
I’ve had some weakness in my hind legs recently - I was just diagnosed with Cushing’s. My mom got this backpack so that I still could go on hikes with her. It works great. I’m comfortable, and I can still see everything! Would recommend. Also, we ordered the wrong size initially. Chewy couldn’t accept a return, but they refunded the original cost and told us to donate the wrong-sized backpack to a rescue organization. We checked with our local SPCA, and they were able to take it to share with one of their rescues who could use it. Yay! Thanks, Chewy!

All my dog mom dreams have come true! I’ve truly leveled up! This backpack is amazing. It’s sturdy and comfortable and fits my long, fat 39 lb corgi mix. I ordered a large and she fits! I also can fit my 28 lb mixed breed in the large, too. I can’t wait to take them everywhere with me!
