Thrilled with this for many reasons!
By Lalee on Oct 10, 2020
I randomly came across an article which explained the varying nutritional needs of my mixed age chickens and sold me on the idea of a whole-flock feed (I'd been giving layer crumble to all). I was impressed with the nutrition facts on the Kalmbach ad and, for the price, seemed a must-try. Usually I waste a ton of chicken feed as my birds walk off unimpressed with most crumble brands & won't touch pellets period. They LOVE Kalmbach! From my newest chicks & young adults to old dude rooster, they all eat a full meal from this before heading out to find bugs! They often fought the barn cats for their cat food but could care less now which suggests to me that were not getting enough protein before I randomly came across an article which explained the varying nutritional needs of my mixed age chickens and sold me on the idea of a whole-flock feed (I'd been giving layer crumble to all). (I always used recognized national brands, btw.) Couldn't be more pleased with how much my flock loves their feed, I love the price point, and CHEWY brings it to my door FREE in 2 days or less! NOT sufficient Niacin for ducklings
By Elle on May 21, 2020
I purchased this feed because it claimed it contained appropriate levels of Niacin for ducklings, although the levels were not listed on here, on the Kalmbach website or on the feed label of the bag I received. I trusted this was a high quality feed and was willing to pay more for that, but did get nervous about the actual amount so I emailed the company. It took them awhile to get back to me and I was already feeding the product by then. They claimed the Niacin levels were listed on the website and feed tags (no, they were not on either) and turns out there is only 45mg of Niacin in this product, 10mg less than what is recommended as the NECESSARY MINIMUM by veterinarians and breeders. Every other duck or flock feed out there contains 55mg or more of Niacin. It might not seem like a lot but that makes a big difference when raising ducklings. Sure enough I had ducklings that started developing leg issues so I had to go out and spend as much on a bottle of Niacin supplement as it would have cost to get another 50lb bag of another brand of feed that already had enough in it. Luckily the extra Niacin worked to fix the issues but I'm extremely disappointed that they would claim to have sufficient levels, not list them anywhere and then it turns out it's not even true. … more

The Hard to Find Just in Time
By TCFQ on May 3, 2020
I had a hard time finding the best feed for my ducklings. This was available and arrived just in time before the small bag I had ran out. It was exactly what I needed.
