Feed as the sole ration on a free choice basis to laying hens beginning at 16 weeks of age. Always provide shelter and a continuous supply of fresh, clean water.
I bought this feed because it was receiving rave reviews and it looks like amazing food, far better than the industrial extrusions that are the pellets I currently feed them. I drove an hour in each direction to pick them up from the nearest distributor, and because I was sure this would be amazing food I bought two of their largest bags. Sadly, my chickens won't even touch this feed after their initial poking around. Perhaps more concerning is that when I sprinkle this in the extended run it's still there the next day and the next. Normally, if my hens leave anything on the ground it's gone by the next morning, eaten by wild birds, chipmunks, etc. I don't know what the problem is but living creatures don't seem to be interested, and the feed looks good, with no apparent spoilage.
My chickens approve. I run a chicken ALF and a chicken daycare (ok not really I have a bunch of freeloaders that no longer produce and some little girls) anyhow they love this stuff. I mix it with another scratch and seems to be the perfect blend. Side note you save money if you get two 30 LB bag vs 1 50 pound bag (unless they change the price - you get an extra 10 pounds of feed if you get 2 30 lb bags vs 1 50 lb bag
When my chickens weren't producing, I went down the rabbit hole only to find out the "rumors" were true. I started making my own feed and my chickens started laying again. I found out about this product on YouTube from a homesteader...it had all the stuff in it I was putting together so I gave it a try. My hens LOVE this stuff!
My chickens love this feed! I don't have alot of layers right now so I don't know if it helps production bur I do know they aren't leaving uneaten food everywhere. They also act like they're starving when I get it out lol. The food smells good too like actual spices and not just ground meal.
I like everyone had non laying hens for the last 4 month, and not eating the layer I had been feeding them for long time. So I switched feed from Puri*** to this and this brands layer pellet and I am now even in the winter getting eggs again. My hens also love it.
I was super excited to buy what I thought would be a feed upgrade for my flock. They hate it, and dumped out the entire bag onto the ground. They won’t touch it, and come running to me looking for food every time they see me. Don’t buy it, it’s a waste.
I absolutely love this feed! It has “whole” grains, peas, and other ingredients that just make it “look” good! I know that really shouldn’t matter BUT it seems to be as nutritional as some pellet feeds with more natural variety and appeal! My favorite without going broke over my chicken kids!
My ladies absolutely love this. They prefer it over any treat I could get for them. Quality ingredients makes for happy chickens and more awesome eggs
My girls didn’t care for this at all. They poked around at it a little bit, but most of it is still laying in their feed pans from yesterday.
Was recommended by a colleague to buy this feed for our small backyard chicken flock. It smells so good and it looks so good.
