Its perfect for my chin but they will stain it with their pee and it will need to be boight every 6-12 months because of this as well as it is wood and will be chewed on but I've noticed my chin doesn't chew it as much as I thought she would.

I got this specifically because it was wood and my chinchilla had chewed a gigantic hole in the side of her plastic hut... so to keep her from digesting plastic, I got this one, thinking if she chewed on it, it would be better for her... it only lasted maybe 4 or 5 days before I had to take it out because I got this specifically because it was wood and my chinchilla had chewed a gigantic hole in the side of her plastic hut... so to keep her from digesting plastic, I got this one, thinking if she chewed on it, it would be better for her... it only lasted maybe 4 or 5 days before I had to take it out because she kept flipping the top off, and had gnawed away the slots that fit it together. Good chew toy
By DawnR on Feb 2, 2021
If you are looking for an actual hiding/sleeping hut, this is not good. But my chins got lots of joy from chewing it up. It broke some while putting it together. Lasted about a week as a hut, but over a month as a chew source.

fell apart as I put it together
By Ronkomama on Jan 11, 2021
Pieces broke off when I tried to put it together. I nailed it together and ordered a different kind of hut. Piece of garbage.

Good but didn’t last as long as I thought

I really liked the size of this and so did my chinchillas. Only thing was that my chinchillas chewed it into pieces in a few days. Not the company’s fault though.

Do not recommend
By Bones on Dec 11, 2020
It looked like a good idea, but one piece of the holding board broke within the first attempt of the assembly, not very sturdy after all, comes in pieces to begin with.

No Floor Panel
By CatsRule on Oct 3, 2020
I tried this hutch for my chinchilla and there are two things that disappointed me about it. One is that there was no floor panel. I don't think my chinchilla would appreciate a nice hutch but have to sleep on the wire of his cage. The other issue is that it really is too small for my chinchilla - he likes room to move around. I cleaned up his original hutch which was larger and had a floor panel and he was happy to get it back.

Untreated- bugs come out
By Maebeline on Aug 23, 2020
This would be a great item it it was treated (naturally). I've bought this item twice, both times after a week of use (I have a long hair Syrian hamster), small bugs start to appear. All over the hut. I am very vigilant about the cage and they could not have come from anywhere else. It's unfortunate.
