Feeding Instructions

Macaw or Cockatoo 1 cup (Approximately 115g)

For best results discard any uneaten portion and clean food dish before next feeding. Fresh water should be available at all times. The following feeding amounts can be used as a starting point for 1 bird. Adjust the portions to maintain proper weight and if additional birds are fed.

Transition Instructions

When introducing a new food, begin with a mixture of "old and new" food, gradually increasing the amount of new food over a 7 - 10 day period. This will prevent digestive upset as well as allow your pet to adjust to the new food.

    Milo loves Kaytee

By MrsMutt on Dec 18, 2020

Milo loves his new food. Always throwing away food he would not eat from other brand. But this time there are only shells left.

    Excellent Larger Osrrot Foid

By Earthrn on Sep 10, 2020

I used to get a Kaytee food that is no longer available. I changed to this one and my 2 cockatoos love it. The food is larger and aimed at larger parrots!

    Too many peanuts

By BirdMom on Oct 21, 2020

I thought my large birds would live this, but it has way too many peanuts and empty walnut shells.

    Well accepted clean mix

    By Minerva14 on Apr 4, 2020

I have both mini and large macaws. I feed a varied diet with seed mix added as an enrichment and a treat. This is a clean mix with varied seed, nuts and fruit bits. Ive noticed very little waste. There are quite a few peanuts as many reviewers have mentioned but I dont see that as a problem since this mix isnt their only diet. The occasional walnut is given to my largest macaws. Ive tried other seed mixes marketed for large macaw but have found this to be the best.

Only food my macaw will eat

By Alex on Mar 7, 2020

This is the only food I’ve found my macaw will eat. I like all the Almonds and walnuts in it. However, we do waste a lot of small seeds which this bag is filled with. She won’t eat the sunflower seeds in it nor does she touch the chili peppers or corn.

    Hardly any waste

By Macaws on Dec 7, 2019

I’ve been searching for food that the macaws I’m taking care of wouldn’t waste and believe I’ve found it in this. Their owner had them on a diet of peanuts & whatever he ate for dinner but with 2 dogs in our household, we hardly have any leftovers and don’t think macaws can eat everything we eat. I searched Chewy’s website and found this Kaytee’s big bites and they love it! I still give them some bits of fruit and vegetables that they can nibble on but this seems to be their preference. I was expecting a lot of waste but all I find usually is the seed shells. And the big macaw’s feathers seem to be growing back quite nicely!
